Meet Lexi-Kate Hayes
Sterling Little Miss USA

We sat down with 8-year-old Lexi-Kate to talk with her about her reign as Sterling Little Miss USA and asked her a few questions that we thought we would share:
Lexi-Kate, what was your favorite part of the pageant last year?
I absolutely loved the dance/pizza party. It was fun meeting new people... and who doesn't love pizza and dancing?

What advice would you give the contestants who are competing this year?
Show your personality and have fun. Don't forget to smile!
What is one thing you would remind contestants to bring on pageant weekend? Do not forget your camera because you will be taking take lots of pics. Also don't forget Mr.Jack will be taking photos of the whole weekend. You will definitely want to get his pictures!
What was your favorite activity that you did with your sister queens this year? It was a lot of fun meeting the Governor and getting proclamations and photos. He gave me the pen he used to sign it and a state pin for my sash.

Each contestant will have a minimum of one ad for our souvenir program.
All ads are full page ads and are $65 each.
You will need to send Pageant Media the fee for this mandatory one ad, along with the photo and wording you want to use for it. Please DO NOT send me the ads -- you really don't want me to do the layout. Nick said that so far, only two have sent their ads in. If you sell any others, you will do the same with them and they will design your ad. They have been instructed and have agreed not to change the integrity fo your professional headshots!
The deadline for ads is
Tuesday, February 28th.

I had a great meeting with the Sheraton staff last Friday afternoon, and they are ready to make your stay at the Sheraton Hotel & Conference Center top-notch! They went through a renovation a while back and it looks great!
Our event coordinator, Brian, said that as of last Friday, only FOUR (that's 4) CONTESTANTS had made their room reservations.....SAY WHAT?
I know we are family, but you all can't stay at my house, so let's get those rooms booked! LOL

The Sheraton Hotel & Convention Center is located at 2101 Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd., North in Birmingham, Alabama.
The hotel, located in the Birmingham Uptown Entertainment District, is just 10 minutes from the Birmingham International Airport and is connected to the Jefferson County Convention Center. The hotel also offers a fitness center, indoor pool, and four restaurants and cafes'.

Your On-Stage Introduction-- How to Shine!
Your on-stage introduction is the way for the judges to learn a little bit more about you.You will say your introduction after the opening number of the pageant on Sunday. We will go in age order, youngest to oldest, as this will allow for a little more dressing room time and should help with crowding. On that note, this doesn’t mean that you will have a LOT of time to get ready. Please slip into your gown, fluff the hair and get ready for the next phase of completion, which will be evening gown.
WARDROBE: Your white cocktail/crowning dress with nude shoes will be worn during this phase.
TIME: You can speak no more than 30 Seconds for this segment of competition. If you go over, your score will be docked. Also remember…you don’t have to go up to 30 seconds. That is ok, too.

All optionals are due by Wednesday, March 15th. Our optional competitions are a great way to try new things. These competitions are held on Saturday afternoon and are judged by a different set of judges who specialize in our optional categories. All optionals are $50 each and include:
Fun Fashion - think New York Runway (swirly skirts, long trains, rhinestones, hot pants long pants, skirts, etc.) and get ready to walk that runway to high energy music. Vogue!
Talent - dance, sing, and perform your way into the judge's hearts. Attire: Talent costume of your choice.
Top Model Photo Shoot with
Jack Bains of Southern Exposure. Jack is consistently listed as one of the top pageant photographers in the country. During this optional, you have a one-on-one photo session with Jack where you model an outfit of your choice. Not only do you get some great modeling experience, you also get to keep your amazing photos from the shoot! Attire: Outfit of choice.
Casual Wear - think "fun family" outing. Something you would wear on a special date. (
No cocktail, Fun Fashion, or long pageant gowns for this one). Ideas might be colored jeans, sun dresses, summer skirts, walking shorts, vests, jackets, etc. You will model to current high energy music.
Best Actress - Ready and action! Memorize one of our short commercial scripts and perform it on stage two times. Attire: Sterling Miss T-shirt which you will receive at check-in, along with a pair of jeans or
jean shorts of your choice.
Spokes Model - to get ahead in this world, a lady must be well-spoken, poised, and have a vision. Select a topic from our site and tell us your thoughts. Attire: Interview dress
Photogenic - show us our best headshots!
