Featured Titles for January 2017

Welcome to the January 2017 newsletter!

Just back from Hartford and Papermania 2017. We arrived to 6 inches of new snow and single digit temperatures, i.e., typical New England January weather!
Pictured is my (crowded) booth at the event, with my customer, Andrew Dolkart, professor at Columbia University's preservation program.
Be sure to see us at Valley Forge later this month at the Home Show where we'll have a booth, January 28-29th.

Plastering, Plain and Decorative A Practical Treatise on the Art & Craft of Plastering and Modelling.
Millar, William.

[Plastering].
Plastering, Plain and Decorative A Practical Treatise on the Art & Craft of Plastering and Modelling. Millar, William. London: Batsford, 1905. Third Edition, revised and enlarged. Quarto (9 x 11). pp. xiii, 627, xxvi trade advertisings. 55 full page plates and 500 illustrations in the text.   With introductory chapter by G. T. Robinson.  II Appendices (Quantities and Weights, recipes for plastering, measuring plasterers' work,  glossary of terms, specification for Portland Cement), indexed.   In original linen binding. Good, hinges loose. After all these years, still the industry standard and unsurpassed.  Of increasing scarcity, in any condition and edition (even the 20th century reprint is hard to find).  Any professional plasterer will confirm that it is the indispensable reference for the tradesman.  The most ambitious treatment of the subject, both historically and technically, beautifully illustrated and referenced.  Present copy, aside from a couple of  smudges on the front cover and a light damp stain along the edge of the first 40 pages, is quite nice and solid.  A good copy of a book which is typically "worked to death." (18063)    $225.00   [We also have a nice copy of  the 4th edition. (16664)]
