In honor of Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) we are baking round Challah bread (with and without raisins). Round challah symbolizes the cycle of the New Year and the celebration of the circle of life. 

Round Challah will be available on Monday and Tuesday this week.

Look what's happening this week at Stick Boy... On Monday you'll get your card marked 3 times for your bread and drink (and at SBK, your bagel/sandwich) purchases. Wow that's awesome! On Tuesday - OH SNAP!! It's $3 Smoothie Day. Annnnnnd, drum roll please...  the long awaited FREE COOKIE DAY is Wednesday! We'll be celebrating 17 years in business by giving away a cookie to each person who stops by.  So come by and grab your treat anytime on Wednesday - we'll be baking cookies all day!


Bread of the Week
ROSEMARY OLIVE OIL

Our bakers love when this bread is in the oven; the aroma of rosemary fills the bakery. This delicate loaf has a cloud like crumb (the inside of the bread) with a beautiful crust that is accented with a sprinkle of Celtic Sea Salt. There is just the right amount of rosemary mixed in the dough to add a subtle taste, which offers a variety of uses with this bread. Try it next to a salad, use it for sandwiches and nothing beats dipping it in an amazing olive oil. Give Rosemary Olive Oil a try this week, and let us know what you think.

We will feature Rosemary Olive Oil for the next TWO WEEKS! This week we have it on sale for $3.79 (regularly $4.29).
*This will be the last week for Sprouted Grain Sourdough, and next week we will add Coconut Brioche.
As always, we mix our breads from scratch, shape them by hand, and bake them in our big German oven, right here in our bakery on Hardin Street. We bake only with unbleached and unbromated flour and never use any additives or preservatives. Come and taste.

Blue Ridge Conservancy 5k
SAVING THE PLACES YOU RUN
September 22, 2018
Registration is open! Enjoy the scenic views of the Blue Ridge as you challenge yourself with a climb up Wonderland Trail Road alongside other Blue Ridge Conservancy supporters.  Run the 3.1 miles as fast as you can knowing that sticky buns, coffee, and even beer await as you cross the finish line.  Formally known as the Mayview Madness, the event was started 19 years ago as a fundraiser for what was then known as High Country Conservancy. The race was originally established by a small group of people on the board of the High Country Conservancy as a fun way to raise money and also to highlight the scenic Mayview neighborhood in Blowing Rock.

GROUP RUNS WITH ZAP
Get prepared for the BRC 5K
For the 8th year in a row the ZAP Fitness-Reebok Running Center will be leading weekly group runs  in preparation for the Blue Ridge Conservancy 5k. The training runs are open to all ages and abilities and will range in distance from 2-7 miles. There will be 4 training runs, one each Wednesday leading up to the race. The first one is TOMORROW so we hope to see you out there!

Runners will meet each week at 5:45 p.m. at the dirt parking lot on rt. 221 adjacent to the entrance to Moses Cone Park. The training runs will be held on  Sept 12th, and 19th.
