Arts Initiative News The Silent Strength of Liu Xia
Italian Academy
Feb. 9 - Mar. 1
Weekdays 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Saturdays 12:00 - 6:00 PM
Photographs of Liu Xia, the wife of imprisoned 2010 Nobel Peace Prize winner Liu Xiaobo, will be in display for three weeks only. Columbia is the only place where her work will be shown in the U.S. Liu Xia is currently under house arrest in China and has had no contact with anyone since January 2010. Her controversial images can easily be interpreted as critical of the Chinese government’s treatment of its citizens, particularly its artists and activists.
