What's Happening This Week:

Friday, April 27  – Stillmeadow Fun Run and Family Picnic

Friday, April 27  – Entry forms due for STEM night
Register for the Stillmeadow Fun Run and Family Picnic!

The Stillmeadow PFO is hosting an all-school Fun Run and Family Picnic on Friday, April 27 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm
  • Admission is $5 per person (ages 4 & under free) and includes the Fun Run/Walk with Ms. Anker, the Dance Party with Miss Paolino, and other games and activities. 
  • Pack a picnic or purchase food from one of the participating local food trucks.  
  • Bid on these auction items (and more) from local businesses.  
  • "Mystery Balloons" for sale for $25, include prizes at least $50+ in value
  • Fun Run t-shirts, silly string, and color blast powder available for preorder.  
  • Purchase a personalized Fun Run sign to congratulate a student or thank a teacher.  
  • All proceeds benefit Stillmeadow Elementary School. 

We need some parents to volunteer to help run games and to take short shifts at the Silent Auction table. Please click  here to volunteer
STEM Night

STEM Night is scheduled for Thursday, May 17 from 6:30 - 8:30PM


Please return the entry form to your classroom teacher by this Friday, April 27th.

Is your child preparing a project for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Night on May 17? If so, here are some tips and resources to help make this a successful and meaningful experience for you and your child: 

STEM Night is  Thursday , May 17.  You should have received a flyer in your child's folder with details about how your child can participate. 

All grades are welcome.

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 7th - 11th

Show your appreciation for Stillmeadow's teachers and staff

National Teacher Appreciation week is  May 7-11.  The PFO is planning numerous events to show appreciation for Stillmeadow's exceptional teachers and staff. This is a special opportunity to thank our teachers and staff for  making a positive impact on our lives and the lives of our children. 

Please save these dates - we will need parents to donate items for the events and to volunteer to help setup and serve.
Spring Plant Sale is May 10th - 11th

Our annual Spring Plant Sale will take place May 10th-11th in the Stillmeadow Courtyard, just in time for Mother's Day and Teacher Appreciation week! Parents, staff and students are all welcome to shop the sale, and pre-orders will be available for pick up.

Spring After School Yoga

Jill Lostaglio Yoga will offer after school yoga at Stillmeadow this spring for Grades K-2.

Here's what you need to know:

  • The class will run for 8 weeks from April 19 - June 7th
  • The cost is $80 per student
  • Registration is now open
  • Send in this form with your student or email Jill Lostaglio.
  • Contact Jill Lostaglio by email or at 203-561-9357 with questions.
  • A minimum enrollment of 6 students is required to run the class (maximum enrollment is 12).
  • Registration is first-come, first-served.

6th Grade Placement Criteria

As you may know, the middle schools are engaged in a middle school redesign initiative. As part of this initiative, we have revised the 6 th  grade placement criteria into the Honors group level. 

The purpose of this change was twofold: 
(1) to include a school-based measure of achievement and performance (i.e., grades)
(2) to reduce the administration of standardized tests. 

The new criteria adds 5 th grade report card grades and eliminates the administration of the Stanford Achievement Test. The specific criteria are included in the following addendum to the 2017-2018 Middle School Reference Guide (also below) and replaces pages 23 and 24.

Summer Camp for Rising 4th and 5th Graders

SPEF is excited to announce the launch of  The Summer Voyager Program , in conjunction with Stamford Public Schools.
 
This full-day, 6-week summer camp (running July 9 – August 17) is providing academic and enrichment programs for rising 4th and 5th graders – all for just $250/week. Our goal is to offer children a “learning while having fun” academic environment and provide a wide variety of fun and enriching experiences. To do this, we have teamed up with the following organizations from our community:
 
  • Peak Performance for Athletics Programming
  • Stamford Museum and Nature Center for Arts Programming
  • SoundWaters for STEM Programming
