Here's what's new in May ...

 ,

Today's newsletter is coming to you on a new day! We're switching from Monday to Tuesday. Beginning today, your monthly newsletter will be coming to you on the first Tuesday of the month.

Hope you are well! April was a busy month for me. Here's what's going on ....

Tea & Stitches

We had a wonderful time at our Tea & Stitches retreat last weekend. It was so enjoyable to sit and stitch and share with a lovely group of women. We learned a new word ... biscornu, an 8-sided ornamental pincushion that was our takeaway project. And we learned stitches to embellish it. We enjoyed a dynamic presentation by Moda quilter Susan Ache. Watch my Facebook page for a Smilebox photo presentation of retreat highlights. Can't wait for the fall retreat!

Upcoming Classes at Cinnamon's

Dear Jane Club. Jane Stickle's beautiful 1863 quilt has inspired countless quilters, including the author of the 20-year-old "Dear Jane" pattern. Join our Dear Jane Club and stitch a variety of the quilt's 169 five-inch blocks, to make your own updated version of the this beautiful historical piece. Saturdays, May 13, June 10, July 8.

Accordion Pouch. This is a sweet, simple accordion pouch by Shabby Fabrics. Finish the smaller pouch in one class, while learning techniques to make the larger pouch on your own. Friday, May 12.

Quilter's Block Case. The 18x18 quilter's block case is perfect for storing your blocks or traveling to class. The case opens to a design board. Finish in one day on Friday, June 9.

Featured Pattern

Just in time for summer vacations, the featured Graham Cracker Collection pattern at Cinnamon's Quilt Shoppe this month is Graham's Garment Bag.
Approximately 42x24x2 inches fully opened, this is a great weekender bag. Carrying handles are long enough to fold the bag in half and carry over your shoulder.  Stop by Cinnamon's to see the finished product, or check it out online.

For Your Quilting Library

This month's book is one we reviewed at Tea & Stitches. It's "A Silk Ribbon Album" by Jenifer Buechel. Written in 1998, it's still a treasure  today. If you can find a copy, "A Silk Ribbon Album"  will be a wonderful addition to your needlework library. It has 30 miniature album-style quilt blocks artistically stitched with silk ribbon embroidery. The collection of floral patterns offer hours of stitching pleasure and quilty inspiration!

Stitching Companions

I'm blessed to have many stitching companions! Here are two very special ones - Doogan, our dear Wheaten terrier, and Jo, one of my two sweet sisters. Jo often travels to join me on teaching trips and retreats, most recently at last week's Tea & Stitches.   She brings stitching expertise, organizational skills, ceaseless energy, and a sisterly sense of humor. I could not do this without her!
In Closing

Enjoy the merry month of May. I hope you'll have time for many stitching projects. If you happen to be working on one of my patterns, please feel free to share your completed project with me. I'd love to see it! And, as always, stay stitching!
