June News

It's summer! I had a wonderful visit with family in Pittsburgh last month (pix below), and am kicking off summer by sharing a free pattern with you. Here's what's happening ...

Free Pattern!

Summer travels are just ahead. This free pattern (for the summer months only!) offers a convenient way to pack your mini iron for your travel projects. The pattern includes instructions for the Teflon-lined multi-pocketed case, a small accessories bag, and a miniature pressing board...a perfect set for summer travels or a local quilt class. If you make the project, please share pictures with me!

Family Visit

I had a wonderful visit with family in Pittsburgh in May. My sister Jo came in from Annapolis, joining me, mom, dad and our sister Sandy, who also lives in Pittsburgh.

During the visit, we treated ourselves to a spa day. I just love mom's new hairstyle!

Afterwards, dad escorted the four of us to dinner.   Below, from left - me, Jo, Sandy, Dad, and Mom.

During the visit, I also stopped at  The Quilting Needle, a great shop in Glensaw, PA. I'm pictured here with the delightful owner, Rhonda.

On the Road

Later this month, I'll be joining the Wiregrass Quit Guild in Georgia to teach my Perfect Placement appliqué techniques and the basics of needle turn appliqué. This class is for new hand appliquérs or experienced appliquérs who want to hone their skills.

If you've ever fumbled for a needle while preparing to hand stitch, you know how handy it would be to have a little needle book to keep your needles organized by category, once they leave the packaging. You can finish this fun little wool appliqué and embroidered needle book in our one-day class.

For Your Quilting Library

This month I am working on a sampler of embroidery and embellishing techniques for an upcoming class at Cinnamon's. I can't wait to share a photo of the class project with you.

One of my go-to books when deciding on ribbon techniques is another of Elly Sienkiewicz's books, Romancing Ribbons into Flowers. The book elegantly features numerous techniques and simple, effective methods for a myriad of ribbon embellishments. I'm featuring some on my class sampler. I hope that you too will have fun using the lessons from this book to romance ribbon into beautiful flowers!
Stitching Companions

More happy memories from my Pittsburgh visit. Jo's Titus (top), and Mom and Dad's Noelle. Both are very dear, and both spent time on my lap while I was stitching!

In Closing

Hope you have a wonderful month, with time for relaxation. Til next month, stay stitching!
