Farmer Foodshare's mission is to connect our local farmers with those who need food! Please visit  or volunteer  at our Durham Farmers' Market Donation Station!

And don't forget to participate in the Donor Rewards Program. Get a sticker on your card every time you make a donation of cash or food. Once your card is full, you can redeem it for a free  item at one of Farmer Foodshare's local sponsors!

We hope you enjoyed your Labor Day weekend and spent time with your family and friends! Our awesome farmers and their teams were hard at work getting ready for market today and taking care of their farm.

Now that school is back in session, it is time to get ready to fill those lunch boxes! At market this week, we will have cucumbers, tomatoes, and bell peppers, all lunch box friendly. Pair that with a sandwich made with your favorite locally grown meat or eggs on top of fresh bread.

Sincerely,
Charlotte Minguez

Spicy Hermit
The Spicy Hermit crafts traditional and seasonal kimchi using fresh produce from local farms (including those at Durham Farmers Market!) and time-honored fermentation methods. What is kimchi? Simply put, kimchi is a delicious product resulting from seemingly magical alchemy of vegetables and spices. All kimchi from The Spicy Hermit is raw, gluten-free, and vegan, and manufactured at each produce's seasonal peak.

Our current offerings are: green cabbage, and possibly butternut squash (if time permits). Try them as a side dish, like pickles, or as seasoning for dips or sauces.
Maple Spring Gardens
I hope everyone enjoyed a great Labor Day weekend! Our vegetables, having no respect for national holidays, did not take the day of from ripening - quite the contrary in fact, as the sunnier, drier weather of the past few weeks brought us our biggest tomato harvest we've had in quite some weeks. So this Labor Day had me reflecting in very concrete and real-time terms on my gratitude for our hard-working crew who spent a good chunk of the day out picking tomatoes, cucumbers, and zucchini, rather than relaxing on a beach or cooking out with their families. I have endless appreciation not just for our crew, but for all the people who work hard everyday (holiday or not) to put food on our tables among so many other labors of love and toil. Thanks to their hard work this week at market we will have: tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, lettuce, pea shoots, arugula, salad mix, and potatoes.

Flat River Farm & Nursery
W e will be at market with Greenhouse Tomatoes, Beit Alpha Cucumbers,  Herbs, Hanging baskets and potted plants, SunGolds and Juliets.  Pickles are here made from our own cucumbers!
