Domestic Violence Articles

By Herald Sun on 01/21/2018

"... Somehow it also went unnoticed that the big news in the latest survey results was all about men. The Bureau’s figures reveal that since 2005 the proportion of men reporting violence in the last year from their current partners has risen more than fivefold while those experiencing emotional abuse have more than doubled. ..."

By Malta Independent on 01/23/2018

"... There is quite an interesting percentage which represents crime against men. When males are victims of domestic violence it becomes tricky as there is this cultural component that males are meant to be stronger and some are even laughed at if a male states that he is a victim of domestic violence. I guess it has a lot to do with gender roles and the cultural context within our society in which males are perceived to be stronger and macho, thus one can find it difficult to accept that a male can be abused physically and/or psychologically by a person of a different gender. ..."
Elder Abuse Articles

By CBC on 01/18/2018

"... Marketplace compiled six years of data from Ontario's long-term care facilities, including critical incidents involving abuse and neglect that each home reports to the government. The number of incidents was compared with the number of licensed beds in each home to calculate a rate of abuse. ..."

By My Republica on 01/20/2018

Many of them are struggling to survive. ..."
Bullying

By NITV on 01/22/2018

"... The suicide of 14-year-old girl Amy ‘Dolly’ Everett triggered a much-needed national anti-bullying campaign — but lest we forget Aboriginal children, who are twenty times more prone to take their lives because of bullying. ..."
Campus Sexual Assaut

By Reason on 01/16/2018

"... And yet, boorish behavior similar to Ansari's—behavior that most pundits say they consider gross but not criminal, at least in Ansari's case—is routinely investigated as sexual misconduct on university campuses. Ansari is lucky he's not a college student; otherwise he could have been accused months or a year after the incident, investigated by a lone administrator with sole power to decide which witnesses to interview, called before a hearing to answer charges he does not fully understand, forbidden from consulting a lawyer or cross-examining his accuser, found responsible for sexual misconduct under a preponderance of the evidence standard, and expelled from campus as required by Title IX, the federal statute that mandates gender equality in schools. ..."
