Domestic Violence Articles

"...Men who find themselves as victims of domestic violence are often viewed by and made to feel emasculated and weak. We are told to fight back and ridiculed for “accepting” or “allowing” the abuse. Many people don’t know how to approach the conversation for fear of adding insult to literal injury, or because they simply don’t believe a man can be a victim of domestic violence. ..."

"... “When we discuss domestic violence, it is often assumed that the victims are women. And the statistics are truly traumatic. The less-told story is that a striking number of men are victims, too, suffering physical, mental and sexual abuse in both heterosexual and same-sex relationships.  ..."
Dating Violence Articles

"...A new study suggests that people who experience physical or verbal violence in their teens are more likely to suffer abuse later on. Researchers at the University of Calgary studied young people from the ages of 12 to 18 to find out whether they experienced psychological aggression like yelling, insulting or threatening and physical aggression like pushing or having objects thrown at them. ..."

Sexual Assault

"...On Wednesday, nearly two weeks after Talbott burst into the church, police said called her story a “hoax” and the allegations deemed “officially UNFOUNDED.” In a statement, the police chief admonished Talbott for the turmoil she caused in the community and for making offensive claims about African Americans. ..."
Elderly Abuse Articles

"...While protective orders have traditionally been used to prevent domestic or familial violence, these same orders can protect elderly people from abuse, too. For example, a Domestic Violence Protective Order would protect an elderly person from abusive family members who have made verbal or physical threats against him or her in an attempt to obtain money. ..."

"...Too often we hear stories of the elderly falling victim to scams, abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation. Like the young, the elderly are targets when it comes to those willing to abuse others for their own gain. Abuse can come from complete strangers, or sadly, a family member or close friend. ..."
Bullying

"...“She has been harassed relentlessly almost daily since the beginning of last school year and nothing is getting better,” Goodnight told The Columbian. ..."
Campus Sexual Assault Articles

"...The letter, reportedly circulated by author Joseph Boyden, calls attention to “growing evidence that the University acted irresponsibly in Professor Galloway’s case” and argues that as the case was widely publicized, “the situation requires public clarification.” The statement has drawn an explosive response, with many arguing it shows little concern for alleged victims and complainants. ..."

"...“ACTL believes that in a well-intentioned effort to address the significant problem of campus sexual assault, OCR has established investigative and disciplinary procedures that, in application, are in many cases fundamentally unfair to students accused of sexual misconduct,” the group’s report states. ..."

"... After all, you would think that publishing a widely heralded 2007 book on the Duke case would have convinced people that sometimes colleges don’t handle sexual assault cases particularly well. You might even think that colleges would have learned from Duke’s terrible mistakes, which are rumored to have cost tens of millions of dollars in settlements. Alas, you would be wrong. But I love your optimism. ..."
