March Madness Sister Style:
GREENS, GRAINS & GRATITUDE
Dear lifestinks family,
The Duggan Sisters have boobs AND brains; and we care passionately about both. Our dietary manifesto on making the brain-gut connection is more than just a placeholder on our website. It is at the

very core of the work we do. Our commitment to keeping this particular discussion in the forefront of the national conversation continues to deepen and grow in intensity.
Many of you are aware that I am one of the millions of Americans living with a traumatic brain injury. From children with sports related concussions and soldiers with profound brain injuries to the some place in the middle where I live, the call for awareness and compassion remains the same. The month of March is Traumatic Brain Injury Awareness Month and in honor of that event I have written two blog entries to share with you. In Chester Goes to the American Club, I introduce you to a new and very important addition to the Duggan Sisters' hearts and hearth - the arrival of Chester, my Service Dog.
In Eight Good Years, I share the perilous journey and pitiful consequences of Annie, Clare and I moving from a 100% raw diet to a less strident percentage. In trying to figure out how it all went so wrong, I share the invaluable work of cardiologist, and Wheat Belly author, Dr. Bill Davis, as I explore my anger and frustration over the genetic modification of wheat 50 years ago and the consequence in all of our lives. The creation of the "Frankengrain" that has replaced the Biblical staff of life has me mad as hell. I think it might make a lot of sense to you, as well.
So, from the deodorant sisters with a wellness message that goes well beyond your pits, comes a bit of March Madness, an unbridled story of pure puppy love and a celebration of our heritage with a Luck of the Irish gift to you!
Sláinte,
Mary
On behalf of the Duggan Sisters

Mary's blog explores "healthy whole grains" as a lie and here's why.
If you read one book this spring, I strongly encourage you to make it Wheat Belly. A New York Times Bestseller, written by Wisconsin cardiologist Dr. William Davis, it will forever change the way you look at pastries, pizzas, and all the superficial delights of the gluten world.
Click here to read Mary's complete blog entry EIGHT GOOD YEARS.
Mary's blog has already caught the attention of Wheat Belly author, Dr. William Davis:
"An enlightening and informative read, the perspective from some over-30 year old ladies grappling with this nutritional demon called wheat . . ."
- Facebook comment from William Davis, M.D.

Duggan Sisters' Keynote Kicks Off Kohler's Women's Wellness Weekend
 | |
Jean Kolb, Kohler's Director of Wellness, reunites with the Duggan Sisters for WWW 2012
|
The talented team at Destination Kohler Waters Spa are very special friends to the Duggan Sisters: as well as tremendous champions of lifestinks® deodorant and our Don't Be A Boob Campaign. When they invited us many months ago to speak at their Women's Wellness Weekend it was an easy yes on our part. I knew we wanted to introduce the concept that health is a space you claim for yourself. The larger the space you claim, the more vibrant the health you experience. I never imagined that I would be introducing Chester, my service dog, who has claimed our hearts and expanded our space for wellness.
I've posted the full story, "Chester Goes to the American Club," on my blog. It's been gratifying to get your feedback via Twitter and Facebook.
"I really enjoyed reading the blog. I love the honesty and vulnerability of how Mary wrote. Thank you. It is truly a testament that if we are ourselves and share the universe will provide and open spaces we never imagined. You are an amazing family!"
- Amy B., Artist & Educator, Chicago, IL
"What a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing!" "I really appreciate Mary's heartfelt and honest post. As someone who works in the public policy arena on issues related to TBI and ABI, I greatly value her and thank her for sharing her lived experience."
- Katie M., Boston, MA
