Design Thinking at Rashi
Design Day: The Value of Student-Directed Instruction
For the past several years, the last day before winter vacation has been dedicated to the design process.

Design Day has allowed for flexibility in the usual schedule so that students can have prolonged periods to explore, test, and revise creations that they make. The day provides students the opportunity to work in partnerships or small groups to problem-solve together. The design process calls on a multitude of skills: collaboration, flexibility, resilience, and creativity .

Rashi Teaches With Tomorrow in Mind.
We think first about what we want students to know at the end of the lesson and then think backward about the steps we need to take to get there.
