Camper Stories   Author, blogger, camper: Blake's story
Blake has attended camp 11 times. He loves a variety of activities from tie-dying to camping out, but most of all he loves swimming. " Back home, I usually go swimming with my grandparents, but it's fun to go at camp too," said Blake. He is known by his counselors for his joking nature. He is always kidding around and making the counselors and fellow campers laugh. " Blake likes to joke about pretty much everything and anything. He is usually laughing," said Alex, one of Blake's counselors. Blake keeps coming back to camp because he " feels like he is at home again."

Blake has his own blog and cookbook.
His cookbook is titled Dish with Blake: A collection of Favorite Recipes for Kids with Special Needs. The cookbook has everything from smoothies to casseroles. Blake tested smoothies for almost a year before he found the best ones to include in the book. " I had to taste a lot of smoothies," said Blake. He got the idea for a cookbook because of his love for writing. " I enjoy writing a lot," said Blake. Blake's blog " DishwithBlake" is a collection of stories he writes and what is happening in his daily life.

Giving is Good
Tee it up for Campers & Taste of Courage and Friendship
For the past 15 years, the 'Tee It Up For Campers' group has been a huge supporter of Camp Courage. In 2001, the first 'Tee It Up For Campers' golf tournament at Oak View Golf Course successfully raised $2,970. Since then, the group has also started hosting a wine-tasting event and has donated over $180,000 to camp. This support has funded cabin remodeling, a ropes course and many scholarships. This year marked their 15th golf tournament. Together, the 2015 events raised $20,000 for scholarships. This month, a few members from the Tee It Up For Campers group toured Camp Courage and Camp Friendship. They were able to see campers engaged in a variety of programs, including a True Strides' hippotherapy session.

Giving Tip #24: Where there's a Will, there's a way
The language to include True Friends in your will or trust is: ""I bequeath __%   (or the sum of $____)  to True Friends, a Minnesota nonprofit corporation located in Annandale, MN, or its successor in interest, to be used in such manner as the Board of Directors of said charity shall, in its sole discretion, determine.
True Friends Can... send campers to camp!
Klein Bank's 'Swipe it Forward' event, held on the 15th of each month, donates five cents to charity for every swipe of a Klein Bank Debit card that day.

True Friends was selected as August's nonprofit of the month. The event raised $1413.00 for camp - that's 28,260 swipes for camp!
