Just Picked

“Do you remember the Shire, Mr. Frodo? It'll be spring soon. And the orchards will be in blossom. And the birds will be nesting in the hazel thicket. And they'll be sowing the summer barley in the lower fields... and eating the first of the strawberries with cream. Do you remember the taste of strawberries?”
― Sam Gamgee, The Return of the King Peter Jackson from J R R Tolkien

Strawberries hold a special place at the market, and in the hearts of many. There's just something magical about the first fruit of the season. After the long, barren winter, strawberries signify the first in a summer soon to be filled with an abundance of sweetness. Cherries, blueberries and peaches aren't far behind. But right now, it's just the strawberry, in all its glory. Plump. Juicy. Delicious.

Come get your first taste of summer, tomorrow at Blooming Glen Farm.

Valley Milkhouse
Foxtail Feta is Back!
This week at Valley Milkhouse, creamy dreamy Foxtail Feta is back for the summer season! This Bulgarian style feta is softer than grocery store types so it's nice for spreading on toast, slicing onto a radish salad, or crumbling atop a leafy salad. We love it as filling to pastries and pastas alongside the last of the season's asparagus or in a hearty quiche with spring garlic and Primordia oyster mushrooms.

Clover with locally grown herbs, Lady's Slipper, Witchgrass and Thistle will also be available. Featured guest cheeses this week include Birchrun Blue and fresh chèvres from Dove Song Dairy!
Eight Oaks Craft Distillers
New Release!
Eight Oaks Craft Distillery is excited to debut their newest   spirit release at the market this Saturday! Stop by for a sample of their new Port Rye Whiskey. This expression of their traditional Rye Whiskey began its journey as rye raised on their farm, milled fresh on site and double distilled. After aging in new American Oak casks they carefully finish this rye in Tawny Port wine casks. The notes of raspberry and chocolate from the sweet port perfectly layer on top of the spicy notes of the Rye Whiskey. We can't wait for you to try it! Cheers!
