Street Sweeping Begins
You may have noticed a sticker on your garbage carts informing you that there has been a change to the 43rd Ward trash pick up schedule. Garbage pick up in 43rd Ward will change from Tuesdays to Wednesdays starting  April 6th .

LPHS Gala A Huge Success

Over 300 people attended Lincoln Park High School's 'Lion Pride' Gala on Friday, April 1st at St. George Greek Orthodox Church. Featuring treats supplied by Lettuce Entertain You, Delightful Pastries, and Chez Moi, the event raised crucial funds to support our neighborhood high school. The program featured a performance by the LPHS award winning jazz band, chamber choir, and dramatic scenes acted out by the theater department. As principal Mike Boraz said, "Lincoln Park High School is where  teachers help students make their dreams comes true."  Click here  to  learn how you can contribute to our world-class high school in your own back yard .

LPHS Music Department Performance of Requiem

Enjoy an evening of music performed by members of the choir, band, and orchestra together in  Requiem by John Rutter. Thursday, April 14th at 7:30 PM at St. Josaphat's Church, 2311 N. Southport. Free to the public.

Lakeview Row Houses Landmark Hearing

We're pleased to announce that, at my urging, the City of Chicago will make a preliminary landmark recommendation of  the historic David Adler row houses at 2700-2710 N Lakeview Ave. The Chicago Commission on Landmarks (CCL) considers the request on April 7th at 12:45 PM, room 201A, City Hall. 

The meeting, to begin the landmark, is open to the public, and I invite you to come and join me in voicing your support

It Happens Through the Village

Lincoln Park Village is hosting an informal prospective members lunch at the Village office, 2502 N. Clark Street on  Saturday, April 9  from 12:30-2:00 PM . Call  773-248-8700 to RSVP

North Avenue Pedestrian Bridge Rehabilitation

Starting  April 11th ,  CDOT will  begin rehabilitating the Lake Shore Drive pedestrian bridge that connects Lincoln Park to North Avenue Beach over Lake Shore Drive. The bridge will be closed during construction, and there will be lane closures on LSD beginning April 18th. Two lanes of traffic will remain open during the project which is scheduled to wrap June 30th.  Click here  for more information about the project and traffic impact.

Prom with a Purpose

The Chicago Police Department CAPS office is  accepting  donated party dresses, prom gowns, tuxedos, suits, shoes, and accessories to help underprivileged students enjoy their prom in style. The donation deadline is Wednesday,  April 13th , and donations can be received at the 18th District Community Room, 1160 N. Dabble Kids' Earth Day Workshop & Art Exhibit 

Join Dabble Kids and Seventh Green Circle on April 16th for a fun-filled day creating nature scenes, planting native wildflowers, and learning about conservation, including  a special guided tour of the  Midwest Buddhist Temple. The workshop is for ages 6 and up, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Menomonee Clubhouse 244 W. Willow. The planting and Temple tour is from 12 - 1 PM, 436 W. Monomonee.


Chicago's citywide Clean & Green Day of Service is Saturday, April 16th. Join your neighbors and community organizations in beautifying the 43rd Ward.

Call 3-1-1 to register your community group or locate a community group to join. Tools and cleaning supplies are provided by the City, and  groups must register their Clean and Green event by noon on  Wednesday, April 13.
 
Property Tax Appeal Update
 
The Cook County Assessor's Office is now accepting property tax assessment appeals for homeowners in Lakeview Township, which includes all homes in the 43rd Ward north of Fullerton Ave. Homeowners may appeal their property tax assessment online here, or they may contact Commissioner Gainer's Office at 312-603-4210 or   [email protected] . The appeals deadline is May 6th.
