National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day

May 5 is Awareness Day 2017 and the theme of "Partnering for Help and Hope" will focus on the importance of integrating behavioral health and primary care for children, adolescents and young adults with mental and/or substance use disorders. Each year, the Awareness Day national event invites participants both in person, in Washington DC, and across the country via live webcast.

We encourage you to be part of the national event on Thursday, May 5, 2017 by gathering with your colleagues, partners, families, and young people to participate in Awareness Day Live! . Watching also gives you the opportunity to join the conversation on social media by sharing thoughts and questions on Twitter using the hashtag  #heroesofhope.

Join the Discussion on Youth Violence Prevention in Chicago

SCY's blog is another avenue to share information, connect with partners, and encourage conversations. This platform allows us to take a deeper look at timely topics and relevant resources, highlight partners and evidence-based programs, promote and raise awareness, and reflect on issues of social justice and violence prevention.

We encourage you to use this blog as a space for open dialogue, debate, and brainstorming to realize community-based solutions to youth violence and the various factors playing into it.

If you interested in being a guest blogger, check out our Blog Guidelines to get started. Contact Kelli Day with questions!

One of SCY's focus areas is equitable access to high quality mental health services. May is recognized as Mental Health Month and provides an additional opportunity to work with our partners to provide support and share resources. Reducing the stigma around mental health issues can be a challenge, but it is crucial to recognize it as an integral part of preventing violence.
