La Academia Speaks!

We had the honor of working with some amazing youth from La Academia at the Denver Inner City Parish. With our help, they successfully compiled powerful poems into a book (read it online by clicking on the book cover below).
They had the opportunity to perform for their friends and family. Here are some photos and videos from their showcase.

Xpress Yourself Spoken Word Workshops for Youth

Recent partners for Cafe Cultura's workshops: East High School, North High School, and Vista Peak Preparatory. We are confirming several more as the school year progresses.

If you are interested in having Cafe Cultura present at your school or organization, feel free to contact us. Our basic version is a one time, 1 to 2 hour session. We have used this highly engaging and culturally relevant workshop structure for over seven years to encourage Chicana/o and Native youth to use spoken word to give voice to our stories of love, struggle, injustice, and celebration. They serve to supplement and support Language Arts/English curriculum. Workshop structure was designed by a spoken word artist with 4 years experience teaching at the middle and high school level with contributions from other poets and youth advocates. Click here for a detailed information sheet.

Save the date: November 16th from 11am to 12:30pm at 1029 Santa Fe Dr...Xpress Yourself Spoken Word Workshop.

We had some powerful moments with our intensive workshop at La Academia @ Denver Inner City Parish. Their book of poetry impressed everyone who has read. In addition to obtaining a physical copy, you can read it online (click on book cover image below).
Their showcase went extremely well. Photos and videos are available later in this message.

Our other workshops at College Track, STRIVE Prep SMART, & Denver Center for International Studies (through DPS Indian Education) are progressing nicely.

If you're interested in our workshops, please contact us
