Preparing our students for tomorrow
through real world experiences today

Principal's Corner:

Dear Parent/Guardian:

This year, Horizon Science Academy Columbus Middle School will again be offering Thursday School.  We had much success with Thursday School last year and want to build upon that success this year.  Thursday School will be held on Thursdays from 3:45pm-5:45pm.  The first Thursday School was held on Thursday, November 2nd. The next Thursday School will be November 9th.

Students wishing to participate in Thursday School will remain after school and report to their designated classrooms for tutoring, clubs, or intramurals from 3:00-3:45.  At 3:45, they will transition to Thursday School, which will consist of two 1 hour sessions.  Session one will be from 3:45-4:30.  At 4:30, there will be a break for all students with pizza served.  Session two will begin at 4:45. Thursday School will end promptly at 5:45.

Thursday School is open to all students, but students who are struggling in math and/or Language Arts, or have low test scores, are highly encouraged to participate.  Struggling students will be invited to Thursday school by their teacher(s) or the Assistant Principal of Academics.  Thursday School will be used to build upon skills and concepts learned throughout the school year, along with reviewing and reinforcing previous skills. Math and Language Arts will be the main focus of Thursday School.

All students are expected to follow regular school rules while attending Thursday school.  Students must be picked up from Thursday
School by 6:20pm. Any student not picked up by 6:20pm (more than 3 times) will not be allowed to return to Thursday School.

For more information, or if you have any questions, please contact Mr. Brown or the school at (614) 428-6564 or by email at gbrown@horizoncolumbus.org.
