Max's Healthy Tip of the Week:

I say "tomato", you say "tomahto".

But did you know that one serving of red, ripe, raw tomatoes (one cup or 150 grams) is a good source of Vitamins A, C, K, folate and potassium. They're naturally low in sodium, saturated fat, cholesterol, and calories. Tomatoes also provide thiamin, niacin, vitamin B6, magnesium, phosphorus and copper.

So however you pronounce them,

include tomatoes often in your diet.

THE 809 AREA CODE SCAM
Do not return phone calls to an 809, 284, 649, or 876 area code in order to collect a prize, find out information about a sick relative, etc.   This is a scam and could cost you hundreds if not thousands of dollars.   This has been around for awhile but has just recently returned.     READ MORE HERE

important1  If sometimes you find you are not receiving our newsletter (on Thursday mornings), please check your "junk" or "spam" files.  It may have inadvertently ended up in one of those files.

Also one of the very first things you will see when you open the newsletter is this
"Having trouble viewing this email? Click here ".  If you will in fact click on that, it will open up the entire newsletter so that everything including all the information on the right hand side, will be visible.  This way the newsletter is much easier to read.

FOR ALL YOU TRIVIA LOVERS

REMEMBER TRIVIAL PURSUIT - IT'S ALIVE AND

WELL IN THE SAN FERNANDO VALLEY

If you want to be king or queen of random knowledge, you can be. There are leagues and rankings. Here are some places where you can go to play:

Some Valley locations are in Sherman Oaks (The Cork Lounge, Robin Hood British Pub), N. Hollywood (The Federal Bar, Pitfire Pizza HoHo), Encino (Prohibition Burgers & Beer), Van Nuys (Pineapple Hill Saloon), Woodland Hills (The White Harte, Picwick's Pub), Calabasas (Sagebrush Cantina), Burbank (Barney's Beanery, Moore's Deli).

For some of the rules and how it works: CLICK HERE

Or for other locations and times:   CLICK HERE

Their 2 primary rules seem to be "have fun" and "don't be lame" (don't cheat; don't act stupidly; don't challenge the Quizmaster). For those of you that live and breathe trivia, this might be fun.

PAIN IN YOUR UPPER BACK?
SHOULDERS?  LOWER BACK?

Have you tried a TENS unit?

TENS stands for transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation.  Many people are finding relief from certain types of pain using these small devices.  Instead of using painkilling medications, try using one of these alternative types of treatment.  And there are no side effects using a TENS unit as there are when taking medicine for pain.

And in some cases, the use of these devices could help to cut down on the use of excessive pain medication.  I personally have found amazing results using one of these units.

Go see Tal at Topanga Plaza on the lower level at his kiosk across from Victoria's Secret and try one of these pain relieving units.   You will be amazed how efficiently they will help to relieve some types of discomfort.

RELATIONSHIPS
CAN'T LIVE WITH THEM CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT THEM!
Issues with friends and family can keep you up all night and just plain bringing you down all day.

1) Dealing with a difficult daughter-in-law?
2) A husband who doesn't talk to you?
3) Are your grown children ignoring you?
4) Who can I talk to without feeling judged?
5) How can I stop feeling so alone?

In a group setting "lets talk" it through and find a solution that works for you.

Weekly women's group forming in Encino $15 a session
