Max's Healthy Tip of the Week:

Pumpkins are not just for pumpkin pie

or good fall decoration.

Consider adding pumpkin seeds to your diet

on a regular basis.

Among other benefits, eating pumpkin seeds a few hours before bed, along with a carbohydrate like a small piece of fruit, may help promote a restful night's sleep

MARC WEISS TALKS ABOUT FINANCES
EXPERT FINANCIAL ADVICE FROM MARC WEISS
Alternative Planning Strategies

Most people are already familiar with investments such as stocks and bonds, which are great to include in your overall financial plan.  Many people, however, are less familiar with incorporating alternative SAFE options like Fixed Indexed Annuities and Life Insurance into their financial plan.

Fixed Indexed Annuities are conservative, safe products and some offer the security of knowing you will have a guaranteed income stream that you cannot outlive.

Besides a death benefit for your heirs, Life Insurance can also be used to generate income during your life. As with any insurance product, it is important to always discuss the suitability of a Fixed Indexed Annuity or Life Insurance with a licensed professional who can help you determine what product may or may not be best for you and your personal situation.

Call Marc for answers and solutions to your financial questions.

PAIN IN YOUR UPPER BACK?
SHOULDERS?  LOWER BACK?

Have you tried a TENS unit?

TENS stands for transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation.  Many people are finding relief from certain types of pain using these small devices.  Instead of using painkilling medications, try using one of these alternative types of treatment.  And there are no side effects using a TENS unit as there are when taking medicine for pain.

And in some cases, the use of these devices could help to cut down on the use of excessive pain medication.  I personally have found amazing results using one of these units.

Go see Tal at Topanga Plaza on the lower level at his kiosk across from Victoria's Secret and try one of these pain relieving units.   You will be amazed how efficiently they will help to relieve some types of discomfort.

NOVEMBER ANNUAL SALES
Put fresh batteries in your smoke detectors.  Reuse old batteries from those detectors in other devices such as a TV remote control. These old batteries will run for a long time; you just should not trust your life to year-old batteries.

Do all Christmas shopping by Thanksgiving. You can get better deals before the hectic days of Dec. and you will avoid the crowds.

Turkeys are often inexpensive.  Buy several and freeze.

Check all doors, windows for drafts.  Clean your furnace and change filters.  This is a good time to clean windows so they let in more light and even clean light bulbs, lamp shades and light fixtures so that you get the maximum light.

You also might consider putting long-lasting and efficient fluorescent bulbs in dark hallways and stairways and leaving them on most of the evening.  The energy cost will be minimal and the light will help prevent falls and accidents in these accident prone areas.

Tune your car before winter starts.  Do a winter automobile check up.  Get antifreeze early; the price always goes up in the winter.

TYPICAL ANNUAL SALES: Shoes, boys clothing, blankets.

MAJOR PURCHASES TYPICALLY ON SALE: Appliances, used cars.

TRAVEL: November is a great time to go to Florida when it is often a good bargain and less crowded.

FRUITS AND VEGETABLES: apples, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, celery, cranberries, endive, grapefruit, grapes, lima beans, mushrooms, parsley, rutabagas, winter squash, turnips.  NOTE: With some produce now available all during the year, many people have forgotten when fruits and vegetables are really fresh.  Buying in season means that these items are often cheaper, fresher, taste better and that money may be going to local farmers.
