Max's Healthy Tip of the Week:

Regardless of your age, make every effort to be fit.

We're way beyond vanity here - we're talking about continuing good health. Extra fat particularly around the stomach area can prevent some vitamins

and minerals from absorption.

Your waist measurement in inches should be

no more than half your height, in inches.

beware1

TELEPHONE SCAM ALERT - It has been reported that a new scam that is being used to bilk people is that a call will come on your phone with the caller ID of 911. The caller identifies as a representative of the IRS and says that you must come up with x amount of money immediately or you will be arrested. THIS IS NOT THE IRS. Do not comply

Be sure that if you are called that you report it to the Police Department immediately!

important1  If sometimes you find you are not receiving our newsletter (on Thursday mornings), please check your "junk" or "spam" files.  It may have inadvertently ended up in one of those files.

Also one of the very first things you will see when you open the newsletter is this
"Having trouble viewing this email? Click here ".  If you will in fact click on that, it will open up the entire newsletter so that everything including all the information on the right hand side, will be visible.  This way the newsletter is much easier to read.

Social Security Adjustments Announced for 2015

The Social Security Administration announced a 1.7% increase for benefits in 2015 due to a cost-of-living (COLA) adjustment.

Based on an increase in average wages, the Social Security Administration announced a 1.3% increase in the 2015 wage base for computing the Social Security tax (OASDI). In 2015, the base will be adjusted to $118,500, just $600 shy of the projected amount.

Employees are subject to a 6.2% OASDI tax on the first $118,500 earned.

How does this look in the real world? If an employee earns $118,500 in 2015, the employee and the employer each will pay about $7,347 in OASDI taxes.

PAIN IN YOUR UPPER BACK?
SHOULDERS?  LOWER BACK?

Have you tried a TENS unit?

TENS stands for transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation.  Many people are finding relief from certain types of pain using these small devices.  Instead of using painkilling medications, try using one of these alternative types of treatment.  And there are no side effects using a TENS unit as there are when taking medicine for pain.

And in some cases, the use of these devices could help to cut down on the use of excessive pain medication.  I personally have found amazing results using one of these units.

Go see Tal at Topanga Plaza on the lower level at his kiosk across from Victoria's Secret and try one of these pain relieving units.   You will be amazed how efficiently they will help to relieve some types of discomfort.
