The Thousand Oaks Chess Club
Monday Evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Their main events consist of continuous USCF rated tournaments. They are usually 5 rounds and are split into 2-3 sections according to rating, with one tournament game played per week. There is a tournament round nearly every week, with the exception of the third week of each month. On that week, they usually have open play, with the occasional blitz tournament or master simul. Open play is also available during the tournaments in the skittles room beginning at 7:15.

AT THE STAGECOACH INN MUSEUM IN NEWBURY PARK

If you haven't seen the "Crank up the Music" exhibit of early music machines at the Stagecoach Inn Museum, please come for a visit. There are more than 30 machines, with the earliest ones having large spectacular amplifying horns, and the later ones having extraordinary cabinetry. The exhibit also includes fanciful advertising posters and needle boxes.
This exhibit includes: Victor-R machine (1902), the "Nipper", a glass horn, two oak horns, and much more. There are even are two phonographs in the exhibit that you can listen to and compare with today's recordings.

An Aphasia Book Club at the Mid Valley Library

The Mid Valley Branch is proud to offer a book club designed especially for adults with aphasia, because everyone deserves to enjoy a good book. The Aphasia Book Club provides its members with supportive materials to improve their reading comprehension and ability to discuss complex topics. A single book will be discussed over a period of several weeks. Their first book will be "Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen.
