Max's Healthy Tip of the Week

Include olive oil in your diet on a daily basis.

And if you use the extra virgin olive oil (evoo), you will benefit from its higher levels of antioxidant compounds.

EVOO aids in blood pressure, lowers the bad cholesterol, promotes a healthy gall bladder, and contains vitamins

E, A, and K, among many other numerous benefits.

No wonder olive oil has been called "liquid gold".

AN URGENT MESSAGE -
THIS HAPPENED TO ME THIS WEEK!
The scammers are constantly looking to steal your information (and with that, your money!). Here is part of an email I received this past Monday - and it looks very authentic. I have just posted part of it here.
READ THE ENTIRE EMAIL HERE

The title was IRREGULAR CARD ACTIVITY

They went on to say that if I did not click on to a link they provided that my card would be rendered inactive.

However American Express told me that they never contact their cardholders in this manner. And here are two things to look for if you received an email similar to mine.

Amex always personalizes their emails -  mine was generic - no name on it. That's the first clue that it's bogus.

They NEVER provide any kind of link - that can take you a site where the scammers are able to obtain your information.

I believe the other card services have the same rules and if in doubt, always call the number on the back of your card or let your bank look at it. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS!

So beware and be wary - the scammers are smart and they figure if they send out enough of these emails, they will find some people who will answer them.

HELPING RETIREES THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX-PART 1
More Helpful Information from Marc Weiss of ArcherWeiss

When you have retired, your goal is to expire before your bank account does. The easiest way, of course, is to take up juggling hatchets.

A more moderate solution, however, is to try and figure out how much you can withdraw each year - a tricky calculation at best, since you know neither what you'll earn in any given year, nor what the rate of inflation will be, nor how long you'll live.

Financial planners have long recommended that you use the 4% rule in judging how much you can withdraw safely from your investments. Recently, however, academics and experts in the retirement arena have suggested that 2.8% - 3% is a more reasonable alternative, given that savings rates are virtually zero.

This brings us to what we call the two tyrannies of retirement.
READ MORE HERE

What's a retiree to do?
If that retiree puts the $250,000 into a fixed indexed annuity the GUARANTEED payout for life will be no less than $14,350 or $1,195 a month - a 192% improvement. PLUS, consider the fact that the retiree at this age has a better than 70% chance of incurring a confinement in the coming years. In that event the monthly payout would increase to $3587 as opposed to the $625 from their current portfolio.
