Max's Healthy Tip of the Week You should buy organic or at least "pesticide free" produce whenever possible. Do you know about the dirty dozen? These are the fruits and veggies that must ALWAYS be organic since the contamination in this produce goes right into the core. They are peaches, apples, sweet bell peppers, celery, nectarines, strawberries, cherries, pears, imported grapes, spinach, lettuce and potatoes. Farmers' Markets Here We Come!

MARC WEISS PROVIDES GOOD FINANCIAL INFORMATION
By Marc Weiss of Archer Weiss
Are Your 2013 Social Security Benefits Taxable?
Here are some IRS tips to help you determine if your benefits are taxable:
* If Social Security was your only 2013 income source, your benefits are probably not taxable.
* Social Security tax liability is determined by your income and filing status.
* If you received income from other sources, you may owe taxes on your Social Security benefits.
* Quick steps to determine whether Social Security benefits are taxable:
1. Add one-half of the Social Security benefits received to all other income, including tax-exempt interest.
2. Compare this total to the base amount for your filing status. If your combined income is more than your base amount, some Social Security benefits may be taxable.
2013 Base Amounts:
* $25,000 - single, head of household, qualifying widow or widower with a dependent child or married individuals filing separately who did not live with their spouse at any time during the year;
* $32,000 - married couples filing jointly; and
* $0 - married filing separately who lived together at any time during the year.

FOR ALL YOU TRIVIA LOVERS
REMEMBER TRIVIAL PURSUIT - IT'S ALIVE & WELL IN THE SFV!
If you want to be king or queen of random knowledge, you can be. There are leagues and rankings. Here are some places where you can go to play:
Some Valley locations are in Sherman Oaks (The Cork Lounge, Robin Hood British Pub), N. Hollywood (The Federal Bar, Pitfire Pizza HoHo), Encino (Prohibition Burgers & Beer), Van Nuys (Pineapple Hill Saloon), Woodland Hills (The White Harte, Picwick's Pub), Calabasas (Sagebrush Cantina), Burbank (Barney's Beanery, Moore's Deli).
Their 2 primary rules seem to be "have fun" and "don't be lame" (don't cheat; don't act stupidly; don't challenge the Quizmaster). For those of you that live and breathe trivia, this might be fun. DANIELLE NIEVES IS A SENIOR REAL ESTATE SPECIALIST (SRES)

7 EASY WAYS TO BUILD STRONG BONES
Bone building reaches a peak during adolescence but then slows after age 25. In addition to this natural bone loss, we're less likely to perform high-impact, bone-stimulating exercises (such as jumping) after age 50. This adds up to an increased risk of osteoporosis and bone breaks and fractures.
Fortunately, you can build stronger bones at any age.

You do actually have a choice, or at least can choose to use strategies that will greatly sway your chances in one direction or the other. And I'm sure most everyone reading this would rather experience healthy aging than the alternative.
