Max's Healthy Tip of the Week
Why are beans considered a super food?
They are a valuable source of protein and have been known to actually lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels instead of potentially causing them to increase, as some animal proteins have been shown to do.
Common varieties of beans include black beans, kidney beans, lima beans, navy beans, pinto beans, white beans, soybeans (edamame), and garbanzo beans (chickpeas).
And they're healthy for your pocketbook as well!

HOW TO STEER CLEAR OF INVESTMENT SCAMS
Get wise to the strategies that con artists use to separate smart people from their money. READ MORE HERE MARC WEISS TALKS ABOUT FINANCES
Why Increasing Retirement Income Is Important
If you're wondering whether you will have enough assets to support your lifestyle during retirement, you're not alone.
According to a recent study by Allianz Life Insurance Company in 2011, 51% of respondents said they were "extremely concerned" about possibly outliving their income. Some people try to address this common concern by withdrawing no more that 4% to 5% of an asset in retirement, and then increasing the withdrawn amount by 3% each year to offset the effects of inflation.
So, as you prepare for retirement or are currently retired, rethink simply looking for guaranteed retirement income - look for increasing income potential.

Kids "Flea Market" at the Vintage Market at Pierce College
Sunday, April 27 from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm
The Topanga Vintage Market coincides with the much-loved Pierce Farm Walk, so TVM is launching the "Kid Flea", a pint-sized market within the flea market.
The Kid Flea will include a Trackless Choo Choo Train, a face painter (from Disneyland!), a Vintage Game Arcade with everything from skeeball to Pacman, adopt-a-kittys to play with (and hopefully take home), a Scavenger Hunt for flea market treasures, and kids' music (including kidsplaying music) in the shady Music Lounge. More delights are being added every day! They also have our wunderkind "youngest Picker" Connor McCrory offering free appraisals so bring your heirlooms! He specializes in Barbies and Bakelite.
The Kid Flea is in addition to the market's usual 180 vintage and arts vendors, and food trucks will be serving special kids meals as well as their regular menus.
