Youth Sunday

On Sunday, August 13, our youth will help lead during our 10:00 am worship service by sharing their talents, ushering, greeting, singing, playing music, acolyting, reading, helping with communion, and more! Let us know how you would like to volunteer here! Bring your friends!


Blessing of the Backpacks

On Sunday, August 13, during our 10:00 am worship service, we will have a blessing of the backpacks! Students, teachers, administrators, teacher helpers, etc. are all invited to receive a blessing during worship. Bring your friends!


Welcome Riley Rivera!

Congratulations to Alicia & AJ Rivera on the birth of their daughter, Riley, born July 24, 2017 weighing 7 lbs. 3 oz. and measuring 20.5 inches long! They can't wait to bring her to church and introduce her to her church family!


LWR School Kits

NOW IS THE TIME to start collecting items for the Lutheran World Relief School Kits.  School supplies are going on sale NOW.   We need unsharpened pencils, boxes of 24  crayolas, pencil sharpeners, metric rulers, 70 page spiral notebooks and pink pearl erasers.  If you do not   want to shop for these items, you may make a donation for LWR Kits and place it in the offering plate.  Checks should be made out to ALCW.  Thank you for being a part of this GREAT SERVICE to children all  over the world!!!!


Once Upon a Song

Jan Bibb's daughter, Teri Bibb, is a soaring soprano that has thrilled audiences across the continent and throughout the world. In addition to performing on Broadway and tour as Christine in The Phantom of the Opera (more than 1,000 performances), she has given a command performance at the White House, sung on ABC's Dancing with the Stars, and performed at Radio City Music Hall, Carnegie Hall, and London's Royal Albert Hall. In her new show, Once Upon a Song, Teri shares personal anecdotes about her career and pays tribute to the stars of Hollywood's movie musicals who shaped her career: Jane Powell, Kathryn Grayson, Judy Garland, Julie Andrews and Shirley Jones. Catch this glorious evening of story and song and a expect a surprise (or two)! We'll go as a group and leave from the church at 6:00 pm. The show is Saturday, Aug. 19 and starts at 8 pm at the Rubicon Theatre Company in Ventura. Special price tickets are $35. Let us know if you'd like to join the group here. 


PFLAG

PFLAG meets Mon., August 14th at 7:00 pm in the Conference Room.  PFLAG is an education, advocacy, and support group for LGBTQ, their family, friends, and partners. All are welcome!

The Prince Who Wouldn't Talk

Be sure to catch BCTC's next show, The Prince Who Wouldn't Talk, Aug. 19, 20, 26, & 27 in Grace Hall for a suggested donation of just $5! The King & Queen discover that their son the prince, doesn't talk. What they haven't realized is that neither of them will give him the chance to talk. Hilarity ensues as the King and Queen try everything they can think of to get him to talk, including hiring 3 very silly wizards! Bring your friends!


ALC Choir Pool Party

All of American Lutheran Church is invited to join us on Sunday, Aug. 20 at 4 pm at Mike & Kathy Lawrence's home for a pool party! The guest of honor will be Jill Richards! Fair Trade hot chocolate and decaffeinated coffee are available for sale before and after the service on the patio. Please help support these farmers with your purchase!

Heavenly Voices children's choir is taking a break for the summer. Rehearsals will resume on August 20!


Confirmation Class

Confirmation classes will resume on August 20. We'll have a Bible study, games, and more! Bring a friend and your Bible too!


God's Work, Our Hands

God's Work, Our Hands Sunday is Sunday, Sept. 10! Plan to stay after the service and help put together school kits for those in need!


National Back to Church Sunday

National Back to Church Sunday is Sunday Sept. 17! How can you encourage the people that you know to join us for worship at 10 am? Plan to bring your friends!


Altar Flowers

The Altar Flower sign-up is available in the narthex and online!  Celebrate a special occasion or dedicate flowers in honor or memory of a loved one by purchasing flowers for the altar on Sunday! The cost is $40 which can be placed in the offering and marked "flowers" or paid online.  Sunday, Sept. 24, & Oct. 8 are still available!


Rebecca Circle

All women are welcome to join the Rebecca Circle on Tuesday, Sept. 26 for Bible study, food, and fellowship at 7:00 pm in the Conference Room. Bring a friend!


Drum Circle

You are invited to attend Community Drum Circle on Tuesdays from 7 pm - 8:00 pm (ages 10 - adult) or Kids Drum Circle (all ages) on Saturdays from 10 am - 10:45 am! The cost to drop in is $5 per person and it meets in the Friendship Room. Remo provides the drums or bring your own. All skill levels are welcome! Bring your friends!


Volunteers Needed 


We need volunteers to help serve during our 10:00 am worship service on Sundays. We need people of all ages to be acolytes, communion assistants, greeters & ushers, readers, work audio visual, and provide refreshments. Sign up here. No experience is necessary! :)


Writing Workshop for All

BCTC will continue holding Writing Workshops. The workshops will be led by Lynn DeYoung who has an MA in Theater Arts from Cal State LA with an emphasis in playwriting. Through various writing exercises we will practice the basic techniques of writing scenes and developing characters. The workshops are open to the community and all levels are welcome.
