'HITS FROM THE HILL' SUGARHILL CD IS AN AUDIO JOURNEY ACCOMPANYING LEGACY BOOK

Release party scheduled for Sunday, 12/4/11 at the Continental Club 

           

SugarHill Recording Studios releases its dual disc set entitled, "Hits from the Hill, Volume 1 & 2". The audio disc is the accompaniment of the book entitled House of Hits:The Story of Houston's Gold Star/SugarHill Recording Studios. "Hits from the Hill" is currently available for pre-order from iTunes.  

 

A CD release party and concert are planned in Houston on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at The Continental Club 2 - 6 p.m., 3700 Main Street, Houston, TX 77002 and will feature live performances by the Allen Oldies' Band w/Roy Head, Don Sanders, Champion Sisters, Chet Daniels, Kenny Cordray's Love Street, John Evans, Glenna Bell and Row Zero. The concert is free and and CD sales will benefit the Musicians' Benevolent Society.   

 

The commemorative compilation features 41 hit songs recorded at the legendary facility. When available, the original artists were asked to re-cut new versions, including "Treat Her Right" featuring Roy Head, as well as new classics. 

  

Co-producer and engineer Andy Bradley says, "The process of forty one songs and eight years of recording has been a magnificent labor of love by everyone involved. These two discs are a testament to the superb singers and musicians from Houston and Austin who donated their time and talent to this worthy project. The CD rocks!"

EAST END TOY DRIVE SPONSORED BY SUGARHILL & ORANGE SHOW!

Speaking of those in need, we've collaborated with our neighbor's, The Orange Show Center For Visionary Art, to celebrate the East End Christmas Toy Drive. This years' event will feature a Freddy Fender tribute band, including performances by Nick Gaitan & The Umbrella Man, Los Skarnales and more. Please bring one or more new gifts.

Admission is FREE!!! We hope to collect plenty of toys to distribute to our neighbors this holiday season. Hope to see you Saturday, 12/10 at the Orange Show!  

 

INSTRUMENT DRIVE FOR BASTROP FIRE VICTIMS

SugarHill has once again partnered with The Recording Academy Texas Chapter to collect instruments for musicians affected by the Bastrop fires. If you have any new or gently used instruments, please drop them off to us or call us to arrange a pickup. Donations are tax-deductible and a musician in need will appreciate it more than you know.
