Community Events Help Boost 2015 Fundraising
Spruce Run-Womancare Alliance staff members accept a check from the Friends of the Cross Insurance Center at the Gala in April

The first six months of 2015 were a huge fundraising success thanks to the incredible generosity of the community.  We have been overwhelmed by the support from these and many other groups and individuals.  This is a great community to live and work in!

The Friends of the Cross Insurance Center hosted its 2nd Annual Gala on April 11th.  Spruce Run-Womancare Alliance was presented with a $15,000 check and the Gala audience voted to give us an additional $5,000.

In late April, we garnered enough public votes to be awarded $5,000 through Bangor Savings Bank Foundation's Community Matters More grant-making initiative.

Recently the Dexter Regional High School donated a total of $550 to Spruce Run-Womancare Alliance, and students at Foxcroft Academy donated an additional $250.  We are so grateful for support from these students!

The Alliance also received a boost from Erin's Run and the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter's Hike for the Homeless in late April.  Both events drew hundreds of runners and walkers and benefited our organization, among others in the community.

On Reproductive Coercion with Spruce Run-Womancare Alliance's Catherine Kurr

We recently worked with our partners at Mabel Wadsworth Women's Health Center to create a podcast on reproductive coercion.  Catherine Kurr, Advocacy Services Coordinator, co-presented.

Spruce Run-Womancare Alliance Launches a New Blog!

We recently launched a blog called An Advocate's Reply that will give the organization a new platform for sharing information about domestic abuse and promoting community engagement.  Spruce Run-Womancare Alliance's Facebook page has more than 1,500 followers and we hope to continue connecting with these highly-engaged individuals by posting original blog content on the page regularly.

You, too can follow us on Facebook, where our blog posts will appear regularly, or go straight to the source and read the blog on our website!  Check back frequently for new content, and let us know what topics you'd like us to cover by emailing aweiss@sprucerun.net.
