A Note From Your CHAHRM President

Breckenridge never fails in providing our CHAHRM members with the perfect getaway spot for some relaxation and fun.....oh, and some quality education! We had an amazing panel of speakers at this year's Summer Conference with each complementing the essence of our theme, "Population Health & HR". Be sure to read through each presentation summation contained within this newsletter!
I want to give a big THANK YOU to our Business Partners - Wage Watch, Altra Healthcare Staffing, Assured Partners, Inc., Davis Flex Spending and Valic. Without you, we could not hold our conferences in locations that spoil us and provide such an amazing opportunity for members to network and enjoy the company of our talented membership group and extended network!

The American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration (ASHHRA) is holding their 53rd Annual Conference & Exposition September 16-19th in Seattle, WA. I have attended this conference twice before and can say with absolute confidence it provides participants the opportunity to learn from highly educated and engaging speakers, visit a large and diverse group of business partners, and network with an amazing group of HR professionals. For more information about the conference, visit www.ashhra.org .

ASHHRA has a Chapter Management Awards Program that is designed to assist chapter leaders in the efficient and effective management of their Chapters. The program is intended to serve as a resource guide and to highlight some of the activities that are trademarks of successful chapters. CHAHRM is one of ASHHRA's premier chapters, receiving the highest honor, the 4-Star Award, for the past 17 years!

ASHHRA also recognizes chapter officers and members by nomination for awards such as: HR Visionary Leader, Outstanding Chapter Officer, Outstanding Chapter Achievement, National Mentorship, and the Gary Willis Leadership Award. Several of our Chapter's leaders have been nominated over the years and have honored with shiny plaques acknowledging them for their contribution and efforts. We anticipate another 4-Star Chapter Award this year, as well as more awards to be given to our chapter's leadership.

This year, ASHHRA introduced the "ASHHRA Exchange" as a way for healthcare HR professionals to connect electronically.  Through the exchange, ASHHRA members can post questions or weigh-in on active discussions.  During the Summer Conference, we demonstrated how to post to the exchange and how to navigate the latest discussions. Click here for the quick guide to get started on the ASHHRA Exchange.

The CHAHRM Executive Committee continues to assess the sustainability of holding three conferences each year. The good news is that for this year we will be holding a Fall Conference again in Pueblo, CO on October 19th and 20th. We visited this location for the first time a couple of years ago and had one of our highest attendance rates, drawing in several of our members from rural hospitals. Please watch in the coming months for conference details and make plans to join us!

As my term of President begins to wind down, I have been doing a lot of reflecting on the journey I have been on as a leader of this fine organization. CHAHRM has had such a significant influence on my career development as a HR professional. Although a bit rocky at times, the overall experience I have been afforded, relationships developed, and most of all, lessons learned, are all things I am very thankful for. Thanks to those of you who have been or may still take part in my personal journey. I appreciate you all!

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July and look forward to seeing you in Pueblo!

General Session Meeting

The CHAHRM Executive Committee held the General Session Meeting on Thursday morning at the Summer Conference.  If you were unable to attend the General Session, the meeting minutes have been made available for your review.

Presentations From The Conference
This year's Summer Conference was complete with dynamic, energetic presenters who delivered knowledgeable information on Population Health. If you missed the conference, don't worry!  Members who attended the conference submitted articles reviewing the content of each speaker.  Handouts and presentations from the conference can be found on our website.
School Supplies Drive Success!

Thanks to all CHAHRM members for their generous donations of school supplies.  These items were donated to A Precious Child Foundation's annual "Fill A Backpack" program to provide school supplies to children in need to maximize academic potential.

With over 180,000 children in Colorado living in poverty, your donations will help ensure children have the appropriate tools to enhance their education and foster a culture of academic empowerment.

If you missed out on donating to this great initiative during the Summer Conference and would like to make a donation, click here.

Many thanks to our Business Partners for sponsoring our Summer Event!
