For clients interested in working with dreams and creative/expressive movement in an exploration of the self. Deborah Thomas, PhD, BC-DMT, DTRL, has trained with the Ontario Association of Jungian Analysis. Available by appointment.

A therapeutic class for adults with developmental issues filled with movement, music and opportunities for social engagement. This group is a safe place for people to come and engage with others. Please join us as we connect through the universal modality of movement!

Two Free Events in June

Healing Through Mindfulness & Movement-

A presentation by therapists Mare Chapman of Lives Unlimited and Grace Valentine of Hancock Center.
Practices that ground us in the present through painful and playful experiences will be demonstrated. We will show a form of meditation that enhances the awareness of thoughts, emotions and feelings.  We will see how simple movement cues can be used to help us feel safe and connected to the environment around us.   

Thursday, June 16, 4-6 PM, at the Hancock Center, downtown Madison, WI.  Open to the public. Free of charge.

Hancock Center for over 25 years. She facilitates women's groups and works with individual adults in psychotherapy focusing on personal growth, socialization and relationship skills, coping with developmental delays, emotional and physical illness, and sexual abuse and substance abuse. 





 

Introductory Session of Empowerment Through Movement: A Therapy Group for Women

Dance therapists Grace Valentine and Tara Converse will introduce the format and some examples of experiential activities of this body-based therapy group for women. No prior movement experience necessary. Open to any woman.  

Thursday, June 9, 7:00-8:30 PM at the Hancock Center, downtown Madison, WI. Open to any woman interested. RSVP. Attending does not require registration for the 6-week group.

SUMMER PROGRAMS 

Movers & Shakers: A Movement and Socialization Class for Adults with Developmental Issues

A therapeutic class filled with movement, music and opportunities for social interaction. This group is a safe place for people to engage with others while relating through the language of movement. We will explore issues relating to relationships, health and body-image, self-esteem and positive leisure activities. Please join us as we connect through the universal modality of movement! Stepping Stones: Creative and Developmental Movement for 2-3 year olds with a Parent or Caregiver
Fun, interactive ways to increase fine and gross motor mobility and movement coordination, and to develop parent/child and social connections. Mariah Meyer LeFeber, MA, LPC, BC-DMT, DTRL. Wednesdays, 10:45-11:30 a.m. June 15-Aug. 24. $15/class for 10 weeks.

Circle of Children: Creative Dance for Kids ages 3-5

Dance for joy! A place for your little one to explore the wonders of moving through space for fun and learning! Children learn basic elements of dance while celebrating their individual spirits and creative expression. Ann Wingate, MA, BC-DMT, DTRL.  

Mondays, 1:15-2 p.m. June 20-Aug. 8. $14/class -OR-- $84/7 weeks.

 

 HC Dance Club:

A Creative Dance Experience for Young People ages 13-21 with Developmental Issues

A therapeutic classed filled with fun, dance and music. The class will encourage self esteem, positive body image, and successful peer relationshipsTo promote a sense of inclusion, the class is supported by teen and college student volunteers. Ann Wingate, MA, BC-DMT, DTRL.

Wednesdays, 4:15-5:15 p.m. Jun. 22 - Aug. 10.

$20/class -OR- $120/8 weeks.

Empowerment through Movement:
A Therapy Group for Women 
This group will incorporate the use of movement as a vehicle to creatively explore blocks to feeling connected to one's authenticity and power. We will use movement expression, relaxation and discussion to explore client centered issues. Thursdays, 7:00-8:30 p.m. June 23-Aug. 4. (No group 7/07).
