West Park Rib Cook-off Happens Saturday

Leadership Program Seeks Applicants
If you are working on a project within the City of Cleveland limits and are determined to make a positive impact, then you are a great candidate for the
Neighborhood Leadership Development Program. This is a free, 15-session community engagement training program for 20 committed individuals who will be chosen for the program year.

Family Fun Slated for August 13 at Local School
Newton D. Baker School of the Arts, 3690 West 159th Street,
presents a community family fun event from 4 to 6 p.m. on their grounds. Enjoy bouncy houses, cotton candy, popcorn, snow cones, and musical entertainment. Meet and greet the new school principal, Wendy Rose-Geiling, and get to know some of the art instruction partners.
Bario Food Truck will be offering a great menu of dinner options while guests learn more about the growing Newton D. Baker School community. See the flyer,

Be Well, West Park!
You are invited to join a free 8-week adult fitness challenge
hosted by
Fairview Hospital,
KCDC,
Bellaire-Puritas Development Corporation, and local businesses. Kick-off screenings take place on Saturday, August 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at
Gunning Recreation Center, 16900 Puritas Avenue. On Tuesday evenings, walk and talk sessions will take place with health professionals from 6 to 7:30 p.m. starting on August 18 and running through October 6.
Prizes will be awarded for the top three participants who lose weight, participate fully, and exercise regularly! The final weigh-in takes place on Saturday, October 10, at Gunning Recreation Center.

Ace Hardware Seeks Employees for November Opening
Employment applications and return envelopes are now available in a box at the door of the
Ace Hardware store under construction near the tower corner of Kamms Plaza (formerly occupied by Dots and Fashion Bug). Employment applications may also be picked up during regular business hours in the KCDC office, 17407 Lorain Avenue, Suite 200.
Construction delays have pushed back the opening until November. The bright new store will offer a complete garden center, certified Weber grill sales and repairs, fishing and hunting licenses, and more.
