St John the Evangelist Parish
July 5, 2018
The Stations of the Cross is a Lenten devotion that offers witness to Jesus' Passion and Death. At each station we use our senses and our imagination to reflect prayerfully upon Jesus' suffering, Death, and Resurrection, and to simply experience the visual images to reflect on Christ's love for us. St John will pray the Stations
Wednesday, July 11th at 7pm in the church.

We Are Getting Close!

We have now moved into our 9th week of the 2018 Annual Catholic Appeal. We have received pledges/gifts from  222  households  for a total of  $87,020 !  We have just over 1000 households in our Parish.  If each one of the remaining 800 households gave just a little we could make our goal  of  $100,355 easily!
It's not too late for you to give!

If you haven't already done so, won't you please consider making a gift this year? No gift is too small. If you're unsure what to give, please consider a gift of $1 a day or $365 or more.

Go online to  https://donate.seattlearchdiocese.org/aca  or use a pledge envelope. If you'd rather call in your gift to the Appeal Office, they can be reached at 800-809-4921. Thank you!

A New Serenity Prayer

God, grant me the serenity
to accept the people I cannot change,
which is pretty much everyone,
since I'm clearly not you, God.
At least not the last time I checked.

And while you're at it, God,
please give me the courage
to change what I need to change about myself,
which is frankly a lot, since, once again,
I'm not you, which means I'm not perfect.
It's better for me to focus on changing myself
than to worry about changing other people,
who, as you'll no doubt remember me saying,
I can't change anyway.

Finally, give me the wisdom to just shut up
whenever I think that I'm clearly smarter
than everyone else in the room,
that no one knows what they're talking about except me,
or that I alone have all the answers.

Basically, God, grant me the wisdom
to remember that I'm not you.

Amen.

Saint of the Month
Saint Teresa of Calcutta
( 1910-1997, Albania & India)
Feast: September 5

Each month a portrait of the Saint of the Month is displayed in the church in one of the south side shrines.  You are welcome to spend some time reflecting on the life of the Saint and praying for their intercessions.
