16th Annual Arabic Music Retreat August 11-18, 2012 at Mt. Holyoke College
| | |
Arab musician and composer
Simon Shaheen invites students, performers, and scholars of Arabic music to the Sixteenth Annual Arabic Music Retreat at Mount Holyoke College. The retreat is honored to present an accomplished faculty roster including Associate Director Dr. A.J. Racy. This year we welcome back Charbel Rouhana from Lebanon. We are also offering a special cultural program for children aged 7-10 who accompany a participating parent. The Retreat includes seven days of Arabic music instruction in both chamber music and large orchestra performance. The Retreat also offers private lessons and classes in Arabic music theory, analysis, and ear training. The structured format, along with the relaxed academic atmosphere of Mount Holyoke's beautiful rural campus, makes the Retreat an ideal setting for the
serious study of Arabic music.h

His documentary Flying Paper tells the uplifting story of resilient Palestinian youth on a quest to shatter the Guinness World Record for most kites ever flown. In order to complete his film this year, Nitin is trying to raise $25,000 through Kickstarter by June 5th. Even small contributions make a huge difference.
