August 2017
Dear Parents and Students:
We trust that you are enjoying a time of holidays and reflection throughout the summer. We trust you are preparing for the beginning of a new school year next month. The purpose of this letter is to provide you with information about the upcoming 2017-2018 school year. You
We would like to welcome our grade nine class and a number of new students to the upper grades. Please refer to the school website for supply lists, events and other pertinent information.

We look forward to seeing one another at the Dedication-Orientation Evening on Wednesday, August 30. The evening will start at 6:00 pm with a barbeque organized by the Board of Directors. This will be a time for us to gather as a community to get (re)acquainted as a new year begins. The Dedication Evening itself will begin at 7:30 pm. We will open this evening with devotions as we dedicate the new school year to the service and glory of God. Students will then be assigned to classrooms where they will meet with some of their teachers and receive schedules, locker assignments and standard paper work to begin the year. During that time there will be a brief orientation session for parents, where the Parent/Guardian/Student Handbook will be distributed and introduced. There will also be opportunity for parents to ask any questions they may have. For parents of returning students the guidance staff will lead a session on preparing students for school and career options beyond high school.
Staff will be available to informally answer questions. Guidance staff will be present to deal with concerns regarding courses and schedules. Neil Klapwyk, our Business Administrator, will also be present to answer questions about finances. We strongly encourage all parents and students to be present as we begin the school year together.
The first day of school is Tuesday, September 5. This will be a day of regular classes but lunch will be provided by the Student Government. Many activities get underway as soon as the school year begins. Over the first few days of the year your students will hear about the opening of sports seasons, Ninerfest, clubs and more. We encourage students to note these announcements very carefully and to get involved wherever possible.
If you have any questions, please call me at the school (648-2114, ext. 133). If I am not in the office, please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible.  The school office will open again on August 21.

Please pray for the staff, students, the Board and committees as we prepare for a new school year. Pray that the 2017-2018 school year may again be a year in which we work and grow together as a Christian community of learning.
