Western Landscape Course & Exhibition
Over Spring break five sophomore students traveled with Professor Paul Runyon to both remote and populated areas of Utah, Arizona and Nevada. They spent 10 days on the road shooting for the Western Landscape course that runs each spring term. Once back at Drexel, students spend the following two terms editing and printing work they had shot in the Southwest. The class objective is to expose students to the Southwest's varied geology, social landscape and culture; which is a striking difference from Philadelphia and it's surrounding landscapes where the students spend the majority of their time. This year the class visited Lake Mead, Capitol Reef National Park, Arches National Park, Goblin Valley State Park, Little Wild Horse, Canyonlands National Park, Moab and Monument Valley Tribal Park. The work of Charles Cerrone, Jacqueline Dart, Matthew Decker, Julia Silva and Gabrielle Perez is currently on exhibition in the Nesbitt Lobby, 33rd and Market Streets, until September 7th. There is also an online gallery on the Photography webpage. Photographs by: Jacqueline Dart, Gabrielle Perez, Julia Silva & Matthew Decker. |
