THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR!
The Monroe Christian Staff returned on Monday. Our building is humming. The teachers are busy preparing for the new school year! We are looking forward to a remarkable year; filled with learning, nurturing new friendships, and building community. We have been blessed with 20 new families! This is very exciting and we are thrilled. We want each of our new families to feel welcomed. Being a part of new school can feel overwhelming. If you are interested in being a mentor family, a family that can answer questions and help a new family navigate through their first year at MCS, please contact Elaine Obbink [email protected]  or Janet Gjerde [email protected] and we will match you with a new family.

FAMILY PHOTOS NEEDED!
With our theme of "I Belong" this year, we are asking every family to send a family photo no larger than 4" x 6" for our "I Belong" bulletin board. It will be posted all year. Please bring the photo to Meet-the-Teacher and give it to the classroom teacher. Thank you!

FAIR DAYS PARADE - Participation Cancelled
This Saturday is the FAIR DAYS PARADE. Because so many families are squeezing in a last vacation before school begins, we will not be able to participate this year.

SEE YOU FOR MEET-THE-TEACHER DAY and NEW PARENT MEETING!
THURSDAY, AUGUST 31, 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.
Meet-the-Teacher is open house-style, so stop by any time between 4:00 and 7:00 (returning families, please note the change in time).  The New Parent Meeting is 6:30-7:00 p.m., and parents will leave their child/ren in the classroom with the teacher for this meeting.

STUDENTS - Bring your supplies, see your friends, meet your new teacher, and choose your new t-shirt size. (Parents, please remain at the school with your child.)

PARENTS - The students wear their theme t-shirts to Chapel every Friday and on classroom service project days and field trips. The cost for students is included in tuition. Due to printing restrictions, August 31st is the one and only opportunity to order your child's shirt, possibly an extra shirt, and shirts for parents, if desired. Shirts are $10 for non-student or extra student shirts, and payment is due the same day. Only paid orders will be processed, so come prepared with cash or check (credit or debit if over $20). This is the only day we can take orders! If you are unable to stop by school on the 31st, please let Laurie Fielder know what size to order l [email protected] .

SOCCER PRACTICE

STUDENTS, ARE YOU READING?
Students, have you been reading over the summer? Are you keeping track of your minutes? Remember, we have 2 brand new bikes looking for owners. The new owners will be chosen at the first Chapel. To qualify for a chance to win a bike in the drawing in the fall, students need to meet or exceed the reading minute goals shown below for their grade in 2017-18.  Teachers will collect names of qualifying students on the first day of school.
