Our Mission
Protect and Advocate for Parents' Rights to Guide the Education of Their Children.

Summer Newsletter, 2016

'Parents Day' is celebrated annually in the United States every fourth Sunday in July.  It is a day to honor parents, show appreciation to them and celebrate the family.  It is recognized nationally (and internationally) that parents are the anchors of the family and the foundation of our communities and societies. This national holiday was established in 1994 when President Bill Clinton signed a Congressional Resolution into Law ( 36 U.S.C. § 135 ) for "recognizing, uplifting, and supporting the role of parents in the rearing of children".

As you anticipate the coming school year, you will hear conflicting messages about your rights as a parent or guardian.  This may leave you feeling confused and perplexed about your legal rights regarding educational or medical decisions for your child while at school.

Attorney  Allison Folmar, JD    implores us to "keep in mind that parents are the entity that is charged with making fundamental choices for their children.  The buck starts and stops with you".  She also urges us to embrace (and always remember) this powerful affirmation: "The constitution protects me as I protect my child.  My child belongs to me.  He/she does not belong to the state".

Children thrive when they feel safe, secure, protected, and loved.   You don't have to be perfect...just be relentlessly committed to your role as a parent and to the rights that you have. It's truly a beautiful thing; not always easy...but beautiful nonetheless!

Pushing Back on Bullies

Take heart; there is hope. Parents and guardians across America (and around the globe) are fighting back with the bullies who have invaded our public school system and the legislatures who have passed laws that infringe on our rights as parents.  It is important to remember that federal and state agencies, along with their stakeholders, have been f lying under the radar   i n our public schools and have been implementing policies and practices which threatens children and families. These agencies were without opposition as they quietly began their promotion and marketing of K-12 school curriculum, training and activities . The truth behind their agenda is now being exposed and dragged into the light of day.

Thanks to the  many grassroots organizations across America and around the world, their radical sexual agenda has been uncovered.  We are not alone.  We are not helpless.   We are fighting the bullies who feel they have the right to corrupt our children.  Below are examples of families, school districts and states who are pushing back:

  Non-Binding Threat

Most of us have heard President Obama's declaration that all publics schools must allow gender nonconforming students to use the dedicated bathroom or locker room of the opposite sex and not their birth gender.  Many organizations have sited Title IX as the law that mandates this craziness and puts the safety, security and well-being of all students in jeopardy.   There is an aggressive effort to redefine "sex" to include "gender identity" in Title IX.  It is important to note that 'gender identity' is not referenced in this law.

Title IX states, "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participating in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."

It is the opinion of   Alliance Defending Freedom that  (1) "no federal law requires public schools to open sex-specific restrooms, showers, and changing areas to opposite sex students, (2) providing such access violates the fundamental rights of the vast majority of students and parents, and (3) schools have broad discretion to regulate the use of school restrooms, showers, and changing areas.  Further, the "regulations implementing Title IX specifically allow schools to "provide separate toilet, locker room, and shower facilities on the basis of sex."

Dangerous Science: Putting a Pause on Puberty or Child Abuse?

Are confused young children being used as unwitting science experiments  by those who would promulgated the notion that our DNA doesn't define us as male or female, but rather our feelings do?  As parents and guardians are we to sit idly by while the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) and their stakeholders corrupt and pollute the minds of our children with risky unproven science?

When a child looks into the mirror and sees themselves as something other than their birth (natal) sex, is that any different than a child who looks in the mirror and sees a 'fat person' when in reality he/she is razor thin and are suffering from anorexia nervosa?  Or a person who suffers from agoraphobia which is a fear of leaving their home?  Or a person who suffers from aphenphosmphobia, a fear of being touched because often these are women who have been sexually assaulted?

Private Schools are Not Immune to Propaganda

A movie titled ' Imagine A World Where Being "Gay" The Norm & Being "Straight" Would Be The Minority!was shown to an 8th grade health and wellness ( sex ed ) class in a private school without the knowledge of parents.   The school administration will not tell them where they found this movie or provide parents with any information regarding where they received their formatting for their sex ed curriculum.

 Remember Your Rights

In Oregon public schools, parents and guardians have the right to inspect the instructional materials to be used before or during the time the course is taught (See ORS 336.035(2))

In Oregon public schools, parents and guardians have the right to request disclosure of public records relating to presentation of human sexuality or HIV/AIDS instruction and other subjects under federal and state law (5 USC §552; ORS 192.420, 192.440)

K-12 Gender Identity Standards Surprise Some
Washington Parents

In March, 2016, the state of Washington quietly adopted K-12 Gender Identity Standards into their health and education standards.  They will begin the re-education process in the fall, where students (as young as 5) will learn that it is not their DNA (science) that is the determining factor in whether they are a boy or girl, male or female but rather how they feel.

Unbeknownst to parents, the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction slipped the new guidelines in under the misnomer of "Physical Education Standards".  The deceit was first uncovered when a reporter, researching a different story, accidentally "stumbled upon them".   A mother whose child will be entering kindergarten in the fall, learned of the new guidelines on a Facebook post.

It is glaringly obvious that the Superintendent of Public Instruction, and probably the Washington Department of Education, were not incorporating transparency into their newly 'required elements of instruction', but attempting to obfuscate and hide the new standards under a blanket of misdirection and betrayal from parents who just might vehemently object to mainstreaming transgenderism as a normal and natural occurrence to their children.

Did You Know
Did you know that the Department of Education, Office of the Deputy Superintendent /Equity Unit  will be conducting a training for every school district's   Title IX Coordinator at the Odyssey Conference this August, in Bend?   Some of the topics that will be covered include Title IX and Sexual Harassment, Transgender Guidelines, Single Gender Classes, LGBTQ Issues and more.

Will these Title IX Coordinators be given accurate, legal advise regarding Title IX?   Who defines "equity"?  What is equity? How will you and your child's constitutional rights be supported by the "Equity Unit?"
Call to Action

The summer is a great time to have casual conversations with your child or grandchild around what they are hearing and experiencing in school.  You may want to ask about matters such as gender and bodily privacy, anti-bullying discussions, equity issues and classroom activities.   As a retiring administrator once said when parents and students have open communication, together they are better protected and equipped to recognizes and deal with issues that may conflict with their values.

Coming up in our fall newsletter:   Know Your Rights and the Rights of Your Child

"[O]ur constitution long ago rejected any notion that a child is a mere creature of the State and, on the contrary, asserted that parents have the right coupled with the high duty to recognize and prepare [their children] for additional obligations."
