The Teen Writers Group will meet every Saturday in July for an hour of free writing and discussion. Teens can bring in their own writing or any writing that speaks to them. We will also take a look at pieces by teens who have been published in Teen Ink magazine, which is available for checkout from the library.

Special Opportunity for Summer Readers!
Seeking: Summer Reading Baltimore Orioles Field Ambassador
KCPL is seeking one Field Ambassador to represent all KCPL summer readers in a special on-field ceremony taking place before the Baltimore Orioles game on Tuesday, August 14th. 
The Field Ambassador must be:

  • registered for the Libraries Rock! summer reading game

  • at least 5-years-old 

  • able and willing to walk onto the field alone (parents and siblings are NOT allowed to accompany the ambassador onto the field)

  • able to arrive at Camden Yards by 6pm on Tuesday, August 14th  

The Field Ambassador will receive 4 tickets to the Tuesday, August 14th game. Transportation to Baltimore is the responsibility of the family.

On the day of the game, the Field Ambassador will be given a special badge in order to join summer reading representatives from around the state for the pre-game on-field ceremony.

If your child would like to apply for this special experience, please  email Natalie Lane, Children and Youth Services Librarian, by 5pm on Tuesday, July 31. Include your child's name and age.

All applicants will be included in a raffle drawing and the selected Field Ambassador will be notified by Friday, August 3rd.
