Leadership Giving Circles Guests
Treated to Insiders' Tour

LGS Insiders Tour May 2012
Pictured left to right: Denise McClain, Chris Klecka, Sam Perry and Deb Gilpin
More than 20 special guests were treated to a Leadership Giving Circles Insiders' Tour of the Museum and Luncheon on May 22nd, led by President and CEO Deb Gilpin and Director of Exhibits Nancy Stice. Guests were able to peek "behind the curtain" to see how the staff works to maintain the historic three-story Monroe School building and the Museum's interactive exhibits, as well as learn about the developmental benefits of each exhibit.

We would like to thank the Insiders' Tour guests for their interest and support.

The next Leadership Giving Circles event is scheduled for September 6th. If you would like to attend the event, please contact our Annual Giving Manager Gina Gral at ggral@childmusephx.org or 602-648-2791.

Thank You to All the Community Partners & Volunteers Who Support the Museum!

CMOP Yelp Wildflower Check PresentationYelp & Wildflower Bread Company

Lindsey Fosse, Phoenix Community Manager for Yelp, and Louis J. Basile Jr, Founder and CEO of Wildflower Bread Company, present a check for $5,183 to Deb Gilpin, President and CEO of Children's Museum of Phoenix. Yelp - the online urban city guide - held their annual party for their top "yelpers" at the Children's Museum of Phoenix on Thursday, April 26th. In addition to celebrating Yelp's active yelper following, Yelp organizers decided to use the event as a fundraiser for the Children's Museum of Phoenix as well, encouraging attendees to donate $5 to the Museum during the event. Wildflower Bread Company, a food sponsor for the event, challenged attendees further by encouraging a $10 donation which then would also give them a special gift - a Wildflower T-shirt. We would like to thank Yelp, Wildflower Bread Company, the various sponsors and entertainers, and all of those who attended the April event.

Bank of America, American Express & US Airways

More than 150 volunteers from Bank of America and American Express, and Katherine from US Airways, helped the Museum staff "Spring Clean" the Museum on May 7th. They so generously gave their time, talents and lots of "elbow grease"  to help us complete a super deep cleaning of the Museum spaces and exhibits as we prepare for our busy summer season.

CMOP KMLE TIm & Willy FUnDationTim & Willy FUN-Dation
We would like to thank the
Tim and Willy Kids' FUN-Dation for its $2,000 donation to the Museum's Every Child Program. Museum staff members Rachel and Keri visited the KMLE studios earlier this month to thank Tim and Willy for their generosity and to tell their listeners about the Museum's program. Click here to learn more about the Every Child Program.

US Airways
US Airways is well known for its support of community not-for-profits,  and of the Children's Museum of Phoenix. During the month of June, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona will be the beneficiary of the airline's generosity as US Airways provides free Museum admission for "Bigs and Littles" during the entire month. We'd like to thank US Airways US Airways logoand its employees for being a great partner and supporting the Museum as well as the community.

CMOP Target Volunteers
Target
We want to thank the volunteers from Southeast Valley Area Target stores who gave their time and talents on Friday, May 25th, helping the Museum with its Summer Kickoff Celebration by assisting visitors in the exhibits and helping office staff with day-to-day operations tasks.

Volunteers are a vital part of the Children's Museum of Phoenix team! We not only see our volunteers as an extension of our staff, but also as our organization's most valuable ambassadors. If you'd like to volunteer at the Museum, please contact Volunteer Coordinator Sabrina Meyers 602.648.2754 or email smeyers@childmusephx.org.

Safe, secure and confident kids are important to the Museum, and that is why Safety Month at the Museum has become a tradition. We devote a full month to helping youngsters and their families understand safe practices, including desert safety, road safety, water safety, fire safety and more. We strive to make these learning experiences fun and engaging for the entire family.

We would like to thank our partner Salt River Project for sponsoring Safety Month at the Museum for the third year in a row. Community outreach is the hallmark of SRP's corporate culture. They believe in a bright future for the communities they serve, and are committed to invest time, resources and energy into the programs, projects and events that make Arizona a great place to live. Involved in improving quality of life in Arizona for more than 100 years, SRP's dedication to child safety - particularly around electricity and all bodies of water - is a gift to the Museum and our visitors.

In the Art Studio

The Art Studio is open daily from 10:00am until 3:00pm. Children and their adults are encouraged to drop in and create artwork together!

Our theme for June is "Safety," sponsored by SRP. We are focusing on playground safety, desert safety, and bike safety with a variety of enjoyable projects for all ages. In addition, we are celebrating the Museum's fourth birthday and Father's Day! So, join in the fun as we head into summer!
