SUMMER BIBLE READING PLAN
WEEK 4
Hello Trinity Family!

Thank you for walking with us through the book of Matthew. This week concludes our reading of this Gospel with its final chapter and verse, which presents The Great Commission:

Then Jesus came close to them and said, “All the authority of the universe has been given to me. Now go in my authority and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. And teach them to faithfully follow all that I have commanded you. And never forget that I am with you every day, even to the completion of this age.” (Matthew 28:18-20 TPT)

What a charge! What a gift! What a great hope we have in Jesus! Let’s continue our study of the Scriptures this summer, becoming more like Christ and learning to walk in His authority to change lives, transform nations, and increase His Kingdom on the earth.

Complementing the Great Commission, the Gospel of Matthew previously presents us with the Beatitudes, The Greatest Commandment, Mary’s alabaster jar anointing, and many other lessons of love and grace. Let’s not forget that Matthew writes from the perspective of being a hated tax collector and known sinner. In other words, Matthew really understands the mercy of Jesus for all people. As we seek to receive and extend Christ's Kingdom, may we all grow in our ability to receive and extend mercy each and every day.

Below is this week's daily reading plan. Be sure to tag @trinity_online or use the #tcbiblereading on all your social media accounts so we can encourage one another. We love following your stories of the power of God’s Word!

Blessings,

Pastor Jim

Extra Reading:
Many have shared with us their excitement about adding one chapter from Psalms and one chapter from Proverbs to their Bible reading each day. As we are presented with wisdom from God in Proverbs and passion for God in the Psalms, our understanding of His heart is increasing and our love for Him is soaring. What a beautiful journey this is!

Weekly Prayer:
Thank You, Father, for the great gift of Your Word. It’s the water that lovingly washes me clean and prepares me for the glorious return of my Bridegroom King, Jesus. I need wisdom to see that my greatest priority is knowing You, Jesus, the Living Word. Give me the grace to be prudent in my spiritual preparation. I want my spirit awake and on alert at all times so I never miss Your voice or Your visitation. Fill me with the oil of Your Spirit, keep the fire lit on the lamp of my heart. I desire to live each day from a place of boundless confidence in Your goodness as my Father. Help me become a faithful steward of the gifts You’ve given me, fearlessly taking risks to put them to full use. Amplify, multiply, let abundance be my lot. May my life be an overflow of love, power and grace that brings glory to Your name. I want to hear You say, “Well done.”
(Prayer taken from Matthew 25:1-30)

Weekly Memory Verse(s):

Jesus answered him, “Love the Lord your God with every passion of your heart, with all the energy of your being, and with every thought that is within you. 38 This is the great and supreme commandment. 39 And the second is like it in importance: ‘You must love your friend in the same way you love yourself.'" (Matthew 22:37-39 TPT)

There’s a private place reserved for the lovers of God,
where they sit near him and receive the revelation-secrets of his promises. (Psalm 25:14 TPT)

Dedicate your children to God and point them in the way that they should go,
and the values they’ve learned from you will be with them for life. (Proverbs 22:6)
Daily Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I’m grateful that as I read through the Bible today, I am not alone. Your Holy Spirit hovers over and within Your Word to stir my heart, illuminate my mind and redirect my life for Your glory. Holy Spirit, I invite you to come make this routine reading a supernatural experience of encounter with the Living God. Father, open my eyes to see the beauty and wonder within Your Word. Open my eyes to Jesus! Extend mercy as I become aware of the ways in which my life doesn’t line up with the life and teachings of Jesus. And let the seeds of Scripture bear real, noticeable fruit in tangible acts of sacrificial love for others. Lord, I invite Your Living Word to shape, inform and direct my everyday living. May the motivation and goal of my Bible reading always be this: knowing and enjoying You, Jesus. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
