Every summer UCI Campus Rec partners with UCI Worklife and Wellness to offer a summer volleyball league exclusively for faculty and staff at the main campus and Medical Center. League Games begin Monday, July 11th and run through Wednesday, August 16th. The main campus bracket will play at noon Mon-Thu at the ARC Main Gym (Anteater Recreation Center) and the Medical Center bracket will play their games at 5pm Mon- Thu on the lawn in front of Edward Shanbrom, MD, Hall (Building 55). Campus Recreation's Outdoor Adventures program has been awarded a grant from the Outdoor Nation Foundation to further encourage outdoor activities to students at Universities and Colleges across the United States.  The grant is to provide support for a nationwide campus challenge that runs from Sept 4th to October 15th. The challenge tasks students to take as many photos of themselves  as possible doing outdoor activities and then submitting the photos to www.oncampuschallenge.org, the school with the most photos is eligible for prizes and additional grants.

Doug Tully, Outdoor Adventure Director, has stated that; "My plan is to get UCI students involved in this challenge by utilizing all the wonderful outdoor activities we have close at hand in southern California such as cycling, paddling, climbing and even slacklining!".
