Take advantage of tax-free weekend and support our Backpack & School Supplies Drive
Every year, the people of Christ Church commit to providing backpacks and school supplies for the students at George Mason Elementary School. We are blessed to be in partnership with GMES as part of Richmond Hill's Micah Initiative and provide support to the this school throughout the school year. Students and teachers at GMES face grave hardships and many children do not have enough resources to thrive at school. Your support is so needed and appreciated! Please consider purchasing a backpack and school supplies for these students and bring it to church by September 3. Click below for a mobile-friendly shopping list or pick up your paper copy in the milling area.
We are Growing in Faith Together -- this Sunday!
Growing in Faith Together (GIFT) is a new adult learning community, offering all ages the opportunity to grow spiritually through downloadable resources and monthly “meet ups," which you can join in person or digitally to talk to others about a topic that deepens your relationship with God.

Some people in this group have also accepted to call to teach Sunday School. Everyone -- participants, Sunday School teachers, and those who just want to learn more -- are invited to the upcoming GIFT Training Sessions:
  • Sunday, August 6, 11:15 AM-1:15 PM
  • Sunday, August 13, 11:15 AM-1:15 PM

"Deck out the Dorm" for a Special Student
Richmond Hill's Armstrong Leadership Program develops inner city youth, preparing them for success during and after high school. At Christ Church we are called to live and love more like Jesus every day and we are committed to supporting organizations that enhance educational outcomes. We hope you can help in supporting one student in a very special way.

Recent Armstrong Leadership Program graduate Imieyah is headed to college this fall and we are celebrating and supporting her by helping provide items for her dormitory. Please, if you are able, consider supporting Imieyah by purchasing an item from her registry. Click here to access her registry online. You can access the registry at a Target store by using First Name: Imieyah Last Name: Bell.

Christ Church will be hosting a Deck out the Dorm party for Imieyah this Sunday, August 6 at 11:30 AM. You can bring your gift to the shower or drop it off ahead of time. Volunteers are also needed to help with food and decorations. Please contact Kay Holmes at for more details.
Women's Summer Book Night
Get your book, give it a read, and then join other CCE women for a special night of discussion & fellowship. The book is “Soul Keeping: Caring For the Most Important Part of You” by John Ortberg .  In an age of materialism and consumerism that tries to buy its way to happiness, many souls are starved and unhealthy, unsatisfied by false promises of status and wealth. With characteristic insight and an accessible story-filled approach, Ortberg brings practicality and relevance to one of Christianity’s most mysterious and neglected topics.

We will meet Wednesday, August 30, from 6:30-8:30 PM at Julie Finnegan's house to discuss. Invite your friends, all are welcome! RSVP to Becky Hansell at

Time for a change!
Christ Church is excited to move to a new kind of ministry tool called Realm. This online program and accompanying mobile app will support how you are involved in your church life. Not only will this improve work life for our clergy, staff, and lay leaders, it will make it easier for our entire church family to connect with each other, keep up with what’s going on, and grow as a connected community of people called to be the church.

Realm will replace CCE Online which means that for most of August, parishioners will have limited have access to CCE Online. Stay tuned for more details and look forward to the big invitation to join Realm this fall.
