Dr. Dan and Dr. Shanker also discuss how self-regulation is the nervous system's way of managing stress and the fact that before
parents can teach their children self-regulation they must master it themselves. The moving discussion highlights the fact that there are no bad kids and that when you see a child differently, you see a different child.

Smart girls in today's culture experience a lot of ups and
downs. In this one-hour webinar, Summit Center's Dr. Lisa White, licensed psychologist, discusses the difficulty of being a smart girl, cool things about being a smart girl, the (sometimes unrealistic) expectations that bright girls face, trouble with fitting in at school and with peers, portrayals in the media, and what parents and schools can do to help. For parents of girls ages 6-16, $40 per person (discount if you register for more than one Summit Center webinar.)
Dr. Lisa White provides comprehensive psychoeducational and neuropsychological evaluations at Summit Center Walnut Creek. She has been working with gifted children and families since 2003.

Have you participated in a SENG Model Parent Group in the past and want to continue the conversation? Have you read "A Parents Guide to Gifted Children" by Dr. James Webb, et al., and you would like to discuss? Join other parents of gifted and/or 2e children to discuss their special needs and unique challenges, plus share insights, and receive support. Participation in a past SENG model parent group is recommended but not required.
When: Thursday mornings, 11:00am-12:30pm, 5 sessions
February 2 through June 8 (Meeting dates are: Feb. 2, Mar. 2, April 6, May 4, June 8)
