Special October Hours

Columbus Day: The main library and the Farms branch will be closed on Monday, October 9 in observance of Columbus Day. 

Extended weekend hours:
Extended weekend hours will continue until Memorial Day 2018.
  • Main library: Sunday hours (1 - 5 PM) resume on Sunday, October 1, 2017.
  • Farms branch: Saturday hours (10 AM - 5 PM) resume on Saturday, October 7, 2017. The Farms branch is always closed on Sundays.

Join Beverly's "Renaissance Man," Dugie Russell, to learn his secrets for locating potential mushroom hot-spots on the North Shore, as well as poisonous fungi to avoid and fun anecdotes, tips and facts. We’re excited to be hosting NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) Write-Ins this November. Bring your laptop, notebook, or scribe to the library each Sunday where we’ll have tables, chairs, outlets, free wifi, and free snacks. Free and open to writers of all ages. Free Creative Writing Workshop

Are you looking for a place and time for creative writing practice? In this free workshop, participants will explore the art and craft of writing, using unique creative writing prompts to keep that pen moving (or those fingers typing!). Writers are encouraged to bring short original works for work-shopping and critique. Light snacks provided. Space limited -  email Liz Ciampa to register.

Musical Mornings with Miz Liz

"Count the Candy Corn" Contest
October 2 - 31 
Stop by the YA area and take a guess at how many candy corns are in the jar. The closest guess wins bragging rights…. and the jar of candy corn! All entries must be received by 5pm on October 31st.

Summer Reading Art Gallery - Opening Celebration
Wednesday, October 4 from 6:30 to 8 PM
Celebrate the opening of an art exhibit by Briscoe Middle School and Beverly High School students, featuring artistic creations that bring their summer reading experiences to life. Light refreshments included. Free, all are welcome!

Vagabond Quakers: Northern Colonies by Olga Morrill
Thursday, October 5 from 7 - 8 PM
Author and Beverly Farms native Olga Morrill will discuss her well-researched novel about Quakers in early Massachusetts Bay Colony, the first of a planned trilogy that will follow the Quakers to other areas of North America. Autographed copies of Olga’s book will be available for purchase.

"A gentle walk through an artistic glen" by artist Ron Pruett. Images of trees and flora in styles ranging from realistic to abstract.
