Issue 33
May 7, 2017
Dear LaGuardia Families,

Though we spend a lot of time updating our calendar, we're still in disbelief that we're already into the month of May and that AP tests are underway.  How did that happen?
Before the month completely runs away from us, we've got a lot happening here and we hope you can join us for it all.  This Friday, May 12, please join the Art Department for a reception and the opening of Senior Art Show #5: Fruition. Details below.
The Music Department's Musicales begin next week, with the final performance on June 5. Each Musicale showcases a variety of ensembles and instrumental workshops---and all are impressive.  See the upcoming events calendar below for the lineup.  You can purchase tickets here.
Tickets are also on sale for the Drama Department's SDF #3: Peter and the Starcatcher, which runs from May 18-21.  It's going to be yet another fantastic show and we can't wait to see it! Purchase tickets here.
We also want to make sure that you put the Graduation Dance Concert on your radar. It runs June 2-4 and will feature works by cutting edge choreographers as well as excerpts inspired by iconic modern dance classics.  You can get your tickets today here
And finally! The LaGuardia Arts Benefit is coming up soon on May 22! It's going to be a fun-filled evening! Events begin at 6:30 pm, with students participating in a Living Sculpture Garden in the lobby, along with refreshments and raffle tickets for great items---a Broadway Sing-Along in the Little Flower Theater along with professional Broadway performers, followed by a "Taste of New York" cocktail party at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts in Lincoln Theater. Tickets for both the Sing-along and the after party are on sale now! Plus we've got more details about all of the events and raffles, so please keep reading!
ELECTIONS: It's also time to start planning for next year, and part of that planning includes electing members to the PA, SLT, Academic Forum panel and representatives for all studios. We encourage and welcome you all to consider running for a position! It's a wonderful way to be part of the LaGuardia community. Please read on for more information. The elections will be held on our last PA meeting of the year, Thursday, June 1, at 7 pm, following the studio meetings at 6 pm.
We've got more great information, including more details about the Benefit and some great items to bid on this week on our Bidding for Good Auction, so please read on!
We look forward to seeing you soon.

Ms. Santiago's students need a Bass flute!
How can our students play incredible music if they don't have actual instruments?
Including the Bass Flute in our instrument inventory will add an integral component to over 10 LaGuardia performance bands, orchestras and smaller ensembles and impact not only all 600+ students in our Music Studio but countless others who require a musical component to their performances or installations. It also will be a great addition for students who write original compositions. With your support, our students can make a positive difference in their own lives and the world.
