Dear LaGuardia Families:
It was wonderful to see so many of you at our first PA and studio meetings Tuesday night-a great way to kick off the school year!
Congrats to Pamela French, our newly elected Freshman PA Representative, and to Leslie Brown, our SLT Freshman Representative. Thanks to all of you who ran for these positions. We appreciate everyone's enthusiasm, and luckily we have so many opportunities to volunteer and ways to participate! To learn about how to get involved, please read on in the "Help Wanted" section below -- you have scroll way down past a lot of other important information.
Now that our children have had a full week of classes under their belts, and our new students are adjusting to their commutes and learning their way around the building, we want to introduce you (and remind you upperclassmen parents) to a few helpful resources. On the school website, LaGuardiaHS.org, you can find a calendar of important events, links to purchase tickets to school performances, a faculty directory and some general announcements. Please note: Please do not use the "Donate" button on the school website if you intend to donate to the Parents Association! Donations made using this button go directly to the school, via a DOE partner website, and will not be tax deductible or eligible for matching funds. Please use the links on the PA website,
Our PA web site, LaGuardiaHSPA.org, also has lots of useful information---like a glossary of school terms. Conference Day, PupilPath, Student Absence Forms---you can learn all about them and how they work; the glossary is found at the top of the homepage. Our site also keeps an up-to-date calendar of performances and PA-related meetings. And with the unpredictability of the subways these days, we even have an MTA schedule app, so you can plan your commute accordingly! Just scroll the bottom of the homepage and you'll see it.
At the end of every week, you'll receive a Weekly Bulletin from Dr. Mars and the administration, usually by Friday evening. This is full of useful information, so please make sure to read it---as is our Sunday Night News, where we strive to keep you up to speed on what's to come in the week ahead. We also frequently send emails to update you about upcoming events and alert you to any scheduling changes---in a dual-mission school with 6 studios, this happens! On top of that, we hold lots of meetings to impart information and answer your questions. (You can also reply to any Sunday Night News email with general questions and we will do our best to respond quickly.)
Rest assured, you'll never go long without hearing from us! Whether you're a newcomer to LaGuardia and bewildered by where to find things (there are lots of meetings planned just for you, so read on!) or you have a senior in the throes of the college application process (we've got some financial aid news for you guys further down!), you're never alone on this high school journey at LaGuardia. We've got you covered every step of these four years.
We look forward to seeing you soon.

New to DonorsChoose? Here's how it works:
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a LaGuardia Arts classroom in need. Our teachers create classroom project requests throughout the year, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you. Your donations are tax deductible and eligible and most employee matching gift programs.
If you choose to donate and your employer has a corporate matching gift program, please don't forget to submit for the match!

is a nonprofit organization that allows private individuals to donate to public school classroom projects. LaGuardia teachers post many project requests on DonorsChoose throughout the school year for one simple reason: the NYC Department of Education does not provide many of the materials, technology and other essentials that make LaGuardia great.
In the past three years, 100% of our faculty's requests have been funded by parents and other generous supporters.
