Upcoming Charity Knitting Events
Colors 91711 is very excited to be teaming up with two wonderful charities, Operation Gratitude and Power Of Pink.
 | | Operation Gratitude: Saying Thank You |
To kick off our charity knitting, we have teamed up with one of our regular customers, Maggie, and her beloved charity, Operation Gratitude. Operation Gratitude is an excellent way to give back to our troops that sacrifice so much to serve our country. It's really easy to say "Thank You" by doing something you love. They are in real need of knitted or crocheted hats and scarves. Colors 91711 is inviting everyone every Friday in August to Knit (Crochet) Nights from 6-9pm to knit or crochet a project in thanks for a service man or woman. Click here for more information regarding the hats and scarves.
We like to announce we have received several prizes donated from local businesses to be raffled off at the end of the month. The way to get entered into the raffle is to either come in a knit on a scarf or hat to be donated or donate a hat or scarf. For every item donated or every hour you spend at Colors 91711 working on charity knitting you get a raffle ticket to enter to win. Some of the prizes are gift certificates from Casa Moreno, Bus Thai, Mint Leaf Thai Massage, Green Tara Yoga, 42nd St Bagel, and Pedal Spin; a pair of earrings from Walter Cholewa; a set of inspirational cards and the book "A Call to Women" by Susan Adams; an autographed inspirational book "Legal Eagles" by Simon Tupman; "Crafting a Meaningful Home" and a fabric carry-all from Barbara Cheatley's; and from Bamboo Tea House "Go - Red for Women" red ribbon pin with hearts.
So far we have had 8 scarves and over 12 hours donated for knitting and crochet. How many hours or scarves are you going to give?
Following a great month for the troops we move into knitting or crocheting pink scarves for the Power of Pink. This will be our 3rd year working with this wonderful charity that provides hand-made pink scarves to local cancer patients. Every Friday during Knit Night in September we are asking that you knit or crochet a pink scarf. We will have more information once the event gets closer.

The Ravellenic Games
After much ado about the name of the Games, the name has been changed, but not the games. We still have Team Colors 91711 and are still looking for ravethles to cast-on or finish projects in a long list of events.
The Ravellenic Games 2012 (a.k.a. the knitting olympics) are underway! So what are the Ravellenic Games? You cast-on during the opening ceremonies, knit/crochet through the duration of the Olympics, and try to finish and bind-off by 11:59 pm on the last day of the Olympics. There will be official event categories in which to compete, and fun for all yarn enthusiasts.
We at Colors have started our own team, Team Colors 91711. If you are interested in joining our team please find our thread "Team Colors 91711" in the Ravellenics 2012 group on Ravelry. A simple "I'm in" or "I'd like to join" is sufficient. Feel free to post pictures of your progress and finished items in our thread in the Colors 91711 group. Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!
