As we gear up to finish another school year, I would like to provide you with an update on what you can be expecting regarding curriculum and support. Our Academics team has been working to improve the quality of instructional materials, and we know we have to do a better job to support adult learning as we go through all of the necessary shifts.

Given the size of our District, sometimes it is challenging to communicate one consistent set of expectations. That’s why we produced the following video that will help clarify a few things about our implementation of the EL curriculum, including what we mean by customization and fidelity. Please take a moment to watch it and also encourage others to do the same.

By now, your schools should already have 2018-19 student and teacher materials for K - Algebra I. Over the next few days, K – 5 EL materials will begin arriving in schools. There will be also ongoing communications to school leaders and teachers about delivery timelines and more updates during Instructional Support Week.
Lastly, I want to call your attention to the new  Summer PD Guide, which includes learning opportunities for teachers, leaders and other school-based staff. K-8 ELA teachers can receive a stipend to attend  Introduction to EL  or  Fostering Character in a Collaborative Classroom.  Math teachers (K-Algebra I) can receive a stipend to attend  Major Work of the Grade  (K-5),  Backwards Planning for Eureka  (6-8) or  Preparation & Customization II.
Thank you for your continued dedication and support.
