Trustees' Week is on 4th to 10th November 2013 - lots of the events and activities celebrating trustees are posted on trusteesweek.blogspot.co.uk. Keep an eye on the articles and postings in the run up to the actual week and post any events of your own.

Sector quality standards: As reported on civilsociety.co.uk The chief executive of the Charity Commission has said that it is working with umbrella bodies to develop new quality standards for charities by sub-sector. Speaking recently at the launch of the report Realising the potential of governance, compiled by the ACEVO governance commission, Sam Younger said one of the recommendations was the creation of a kitemark for good governance.

Thoughtful Thursdays: On IVO.org, the voluntary sector social networking site, an appealing initiative; Thoughtful Thursdays from VM movement:  "We're all about championing the vital role carried out by those of you leading, managing and coordinating volunteering. Leading the weekly dedicated tweet chat and discussion for managers of volunteers everywhere! Join us here and via @vmmovement and get thoughtful about Volunteer Management #ttvolmgrs; we post up the weekly Thoughtful Thursday blogs; encourage you to join in the weekly discussions by commenting, sharing & learning; invite you to share ideas and suggestions for future #ttvolmgrs topics" A chance to take a moment to reflect on current sector issues.

And finally, a brilliant little video from the Social Enterprise Coalition:
We promise it will make you optimistic, even on such a grey day!
