Happy Holidays from USAC

There's been a lot going on behind the scenes this year as we work towards a final resolution to this stream access battle. We've constructed steel access ladders, and begun negotiations for their placement around the state. We've grown our membership by nearly 20% since 2015. We've continued to seek an amicable, permanent legislative solution. We tallied the largest year of donations to date. Finally, we completed our briefs to the Utah Supreme Court, and await oral arguments at the beginning of the new year. By all metrics, the Coalition continues to grow, and our momentum continues to build.

None of this could be possible without the tremendous outpouring of support from our members, our volunteers, our partners, and those that believe in fighting the good fight. Thanks to you for supporting us - we anticipate big things in 2017.

Supreme Court Date Announced!

Folks, this is not a drill, the Utah Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in BOTH the Public Waters (Provo) and Navigability (Weber) cases back-to-back on January 9, 2017. This is the end of the road for the two lawsuits we won in 2015.  You might want to take the morning off work for this one. Arguments will be at 0930 and 1015, respectively, at the Matheson Courthouse in Salt Lake City. We are inviting USAC members and supporters to attend these final arguments and show your support for Stream Access. If you plan on attending, please dress appropriately and adhere to proper courtroom decorum: a crowd is best seen but not heard. This is not a rally, it is not the time for banners or signs, but for bodies en masse silently supporting stream access. Please plan to be seated before the court convenes at 0930.

We very much hope to see you there, to show appreciation for our outstanding pro bono counsel and the tremendous amount of work they've done for all of us, and to witness Utah history being made. We anticipate a final ruling on both appeals from the High Court in the following months.
New Hats and Beanies!

Just in time for those chilly days on the water or last-minute stocking stuffers, we just got in new USAC beanies and ladies' hats. Available now at Western Rivers and Fish Tech!

5000th MEMBER DRIVE

We're close - so close - less than 100 members away from hitting the 5,000 member mark. To celebrate that monumental number, the USAC (with Fish Tech Outfitters and Sage Fly Fishing) will be giving away the brand new Sage X to member # 5000.

To be eligible, the person must be a new member ( so if you're already receiving this email, sorry, but you can't win the X), must support USAC's mission statement, and must sign up through our website or by texting "STREAMACCESS" to 22828. Spread the word, and help us hit 5,000 members strong!
Here's to you and yours this Holiday season, and to a bright and just 2017.
